Hi there fellow PCGB members,
i have recently just sold my 986.2 S after 5 years of joy. However im now on the hunt for a 996 C2 manual. If you have this spec 3.4 or 3.6ltr and thinking of moving on yourself then please give me a message and maybe we can strike a deal! All other spec options and colours I’m flexible on as top priority to me is condition that to goes for the miles too!
thank you for reading this post and I hope it leads to a new car for me and the next step on your journey of Porsche ownership!

OH is contemplating selling her's. It's an 03 Cabriolet with about 100k miles.

Can get more details if she hasn't changed her mind after work tonight.

Next service was going to be February and we usually work on time more than miles.

It's always been on Mobil or Millers CFS and has had a couple of PDK oil changes.

Carrera so 3.6 with 315bhp. Might do if you don't find a manual. The PDK is rather a good gearbox!

Thank you Tim for the quick response, however its got to be coupe and manual. I might consider a C4 but only if an amazing spec and deal

HI Nick
I’m not aware of a specific car around at the moment but I wish you all the best in your quest.
They are great cars and a C2 will give you the best feel of any 996. Don’t rust there are some good cars out there and I’m sure you’ll find your ideal Porsche.
Good luck
Andy

Thank you Andy for your comments.
I’ll keep my cool and stand fast waiting for the right car. If you hear of any coming up please give me a shout.

i had seen that one guys and sorry but at that value plus half the bores sounding 1/2 hand it’s just a bit too much to take on. So basically I did not get that worn feeling we all know when your looking at the right car. Sorry to the owner selling that C2. All cars have a place in someone’s drive/garage and I’m sure that person will come along.

Try Friends green porsche, they always have a good selection in stock.
Good luck

I have seen his YouTube channel and yes he’s got 1 car I’m interested in for sale. Has people got any experience buying from FGP? Good, Bad? are the cars simple dressed up to move on or has honest work gone in with corners not cut to sell on a solid 911! Any testimonials are welcome.

Hi All

The thing is with the 996 people who know they have a really good car generally don't want to sell. That's because if you have a good one you know you are driving something special and true motoring value. I know there are several thoughts on buying a 996. These are 1) buy cheap and have a budget to bring the car up to the standard you are prepared to pay for. 2) Buy a mid price car that should be to a reasonable standard with a small budget to correct any minor items that you think need attention. 3) Buy Porsche approved or from one of the reputable Independents that most on this forum will be aware of.

I went on option 3 for both my Cayman S of 8 years ownership and my 996 3 years ownership. I bought Porsche approved on both cars paying probably over the odds for the 996 but never regretted it as the car pulls great comments on its condition every time it is serviced, MOT'd. Unfortunately it is now rare to see a Porsche Approved 996 C2. Porsche OPC still give 996's this description even though most are to old for Porsche warranty as was mine being a 2002. You are however more likely to get a top car.

You give no indication of budget so don't know which area of the market you are likely to fall into. One thing I will say is don't get tempted into a poor 997 purchase over a really good 996 like somebody i know did and has regretted it ever sense.

Hi trevor,
I have about 20k max max budget to spend with cash left over for work after. But I’d very much hope at £20k end for a C2 3.6ltr with average miles it will not need lots doing and will have had a good amount already done. I’m not afraid to do work on my cars so finding that needs attention is also fine for me.

I am just looking at a certain 996.2 C2 being advertised on autotrader. Options list dose NOT show having parkAssistant code "635” however there are there in the rear bumper. Owner says they work and must have been fitted from new at dealer? so is that a true fact, we’re some 911’s from this period have parking sensors dealer fit? I’ve seen other cars with the sensors AND the option code shown in the build sticke so I’m not sure this guys telling the truth?
any thoughts guys

In my experience, the build sticker cannot be relied on for the full spec of the car, there are often items missing.
