Re: 718 PDK 4 year service cost 2022/02/18 08:27:45 (permalink)
I've just been quoted £1,300 (718 manual) by Silverstone.  4 year service (first post warranty).  From reading the above, I'm guessing that's probably about right.  Any point, or benefit, taking it to an indy?  I expect not, but interested to hear opinions.

On another matter, I think the tyres might need replacing for the MOT.  Any advice on that, i.e., savings to be had, or should I just let Porsche service do that too?

Thanks in advance.

Try indy JGC Porsche in Brackley  https://jgcporsche.co.uk/
Not too far from Porsche Towcester, sorry, Silverstone.
James has serviced my Boxster for over 2 years now and is excellent. Many years knowledge and experience in all models.
Give him a call.

Servicing - I would call a few OPCs and get their best price. Then take that back to Silverstone and ask them to match it. Labour rates for different areas will impact cost. Some franchise are a little more sensible (If you can use that word).

Regarding indy...I wouldn't as a lot of buyers like OPC servicing. On a 4-6 year old car, it's still got a chunk of its value left in it so many buyers will want that main dealer service. Personally I don't mind as indys are brilliant, but a lot of buyers will prefer it. Depends on the model a bit too - if it's a little more unique and holds its value well regardless, you may well find taking to indy is worth it financially.

Tyres, I'd highly recommend Camskill. Buy them from there and then book into a local tyre shop to change them. Usually works out 10% cheaper for me than going through sites like Blackcircle. Depends how much time you want to spend organising it I guess.

Hope that helps.

P.S. service cost feels about right for OPC.

Michael,

As above, but you should get a discount from Silverstone if you mention that you’re a Club member, as I did when my 987.2 CS had its 12-year service last September and they were more than £200 cheaper than Hatfield. Incidentally, Cambridge quoted almost exactly the same price as Silverstone.

The main difference between Main dealer and Independent costs is the labour charge, with dealers now charging £150+ per hour and reputable Independents charging half that. If you’re planning to use an Independent there’s Dove House in Rushden.

Thank you all. Useful information, and one way or the other, I expect you've saved me a couple hundred pounds (i.e., a few tanks of super unleaded!).

Hi,
Has anyone got a link to the service schedule for a 718 S with PDK?  I don't seem to have it in my book pack.

Yes ... quite surprising as with other, albeit older all aluminium units it was changed every 40k (BMW Alpina V8

Hi, Just been quote £925 for a 4 year service on my 718 PDK (Porsche Teesside) - I nearly fell off my chair when talking to them on the phone but looking through this thread it doesnt seem so bad now! Its my first Porsche so unsure whehter these cost are likely to spiral over time - whats the conscensus?

Thats not a bad price tbh seeing as though that should be for a brake fluid change and spark plugs.

My first Porsche also (718 PDK) and was expecting it to be expensive, but £1427 just for 4yr service was a shock.  So I quoted the the slightly outdated Totally Transparent pricing:  https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/download.axd?file=0;1066128

I can't believe how they call it a major service and then add spark plugs/brake fluid on-top.   I also found two dealers adding some extra checks worth £545 until queried.
The worst is that both were saying I had to have the Water Drainage channels checked (flushing the pipes for windscreen and cills) for £464 in order to retain my extended warranty.... that's a lot of labour for some water flushing!
So, the total would have been £1891.

After some debate, I managed to reduce one dealer to the Major Service (£694), Brake Fluid (£167) and Spark Plugs (£221) = £1084

I'll get the drains done separately ahead of when it comes to renewing my warranty (if I do).
