Hi everyone, or perhaps as they say in my native language, Bonjour à tous !!

As you are most certainly aware, the very sad passing of Paul Thompson as left a big gap in our register.
Stepping into his shoes is not going to be an easy task as Paul was very much liked by all and took great pride in bringing our community together.

Having very recently accepted to take over the role of 911SC Register Secretary I thought that a quick introduction was in order (more in the register news section here : ).

As per my opening, you will have guessed that I am a French expat who fell in love with the UK almost 30 years ago while coming here to study and never left....
Being a proud owner of a 1980 911SC and a member of the PCGB for a while now, I decided that it was time to give something back to our club by getting involved on the register and I am really looking forward to getting to know if not all but at least most of you thought this forum and hopefully in 2021 at various club events once things get back to normal.

With regards to the Register, I already have a few ideas and one thing that you will soon noticed is that we are bringing a group of people together to form a team best suited to respond to your expectations. I will introduce them to you very shortly but the one thing I would like to stressin the meantime is that this is YOUR register and we will therefore need your guidance and your input to make it a success. We are more than happy to help wherever and whenever we can so don't hesitate to get in touch.

I would have liked to conclude this short post with wishing you ''happy driving'' but I guess none of us are doing too much of this in our SCs at the moment so will just share a picture of my pride and joy and it would be great if you could perhaps share a picture of you car in return as a way to introduce each other

Franck.

Hi Franck

It was great to see you on the officials Zoom meet last night.

I can’t believe that we first met at R11 around 20 years ago. We had some great events and regional weekends away then.

Doesn't time fly. Good luck with your new appointment and Cliff and I look forward to seeing you in 2021.

Regards

Tracy

Hello everyone,

I'm your Assistant 911SC Register Secretary North. This is a new post and I look forward to meeting all SC owners particularly those in the Manchester area where I live.

I bought my first Porsche 911 ( a 1966 2.0 litre) in 1977. I sold it in 1981 when my children would no longer fit in the back seats. I bought my present car, a 1978 911SC in 1993. From my experience with the earlier car it had to be one with a galvanized body and while I have had some bodywork tidying done in 2008, my car like yours I expect, remains largely rust free.

I am now retired so have plenty of time to work on my car. I do my own servicing and general trouble shooting and regard that as part of the fun of owning a 911. This year I have replaced the solenoid on the starter to cure a hot starting problem and sorted out the heating system so that I now get some heat in the cabin. I'm looking forward to next year when, hopefully, we can meet up, compare cars and exchange experiences on owning these cars.

Welcome to the team Roy.

Love the colour of your car but then again I am biased as my Dad's 2.7 is also Minerva Blue 😉

Hi Tracy,

Yep, time flies indeed !!! Still got the plans and road-book for the Champagne region tour I organised, might have to do it again at some point....

Hope we can catch up in 2021. Franck

Good luck with your new role Fanck and thanks for stepping forward. My ’79 SC Targa is getting ever closer to the road after a full bare metal rebuild (full details in my blog on DDK). As of today, colour sanding in progress - welding & painting done, suspension on, wiring in, and engine rebuild waiting for some solder to arrive so that I can check the piston to valve clearance (currently hiding under the plastic and bedsheet). Thanks Peter.

Looks like you have a serious project on the go, very nice work and result should be stunning 👍

Had a read through your blog, if you can spare a little moment to share on here it would be great for all to see as would pick up a lot of information and tips as well as give extra motivation to some of us....

Hi, Franck. Just a line to say hello and good luck. Looking forward to getting some more wheel time in 2021 and meeting up with folk.
