993 Air con not blowing cold

Hi, I'm new to this forum but wonder if anyone has any experience of 993 air con not blowing cold. Could anyone point me in the right direction to a trouble shooting guide please. Any help much appreciated. Thanks, Rory

I'd start from the basics - is there gas in the system? A trip to a local re-gasser will confirm for not very much money. If you're lucky that's all it will be, although a complete lack of gas could indicate a leak somewhere.

After that you have the usual air con issues around compressors, condensors, Climate Control Unit (CCU), etc. Good luck!

Cheers/John

have a look at www.bergvillfx.com who specialises in amongst other things rebuilding the aircon control electronics. there is a detailed diagnostics guide on his page. the page seems to be down at the moment - looking at his facebook page that is planned maintenance, cheers

This is in order of my experience of 40 plus cars with a/c issues.
Regas the system tends to be a bit leaky and degasses over 3 to 5 years fro leaks 70% of the time
Condensor 20% of the time stone damage or where the pipes join
Never found s faulty compressor
Leaky pipes 5%(sill area)
Evaporator 5%.

Solution Formula 1 Autocentre used to pressure test FOC before regassing this would tell you where the problem was. Any Porsche specialist, a/c specialist will do the same for a small fee there needs to be dye included in the test. The hard one to detect snd the super expensive is the evaporator which from memory can be viewed after removing the long plastic trim at rear of bonnet area just in front of the vent. Refer to earlier links.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I took the 993 to Formula 1 in Derby (Ashbourne Rd) to start with a leak test & regassing. It has not blown cold for a year so i was expecting the worst.
The guys were great and I would totally recommend them. They tested it for leaks and fortunately it was fine. There was however virtually no gas left in so they filled it up and now it blows ice cold. If it was leaking there would have been no charge but as it was fine I walked away with it working and only a £59 bill. Relief!
