Hi,

Looks like a move back to the Fylde is imminent. I'm running an 09 C2 PDK and will be needing an independent in reach of the Wrea Green area to look after the car. Also a good MOT station recommendation, as I've three cars to get re-registered from the Isle of Man.

Hope someone can help.

Regards

Derek

Hi Derek

We have Jasmine Porschalink at Colne, and Ultimate Porsche at Westhoughton, who are both very good. Of course we have the new Porsche Centre, Preston as well, and they operate the Porsche Classic Scheme

Don't forget to transfer your membership to R18 - Lancashire Region and come along to our meetings ( when we can) at Garstang Golf Club on the 3rd WEdnesday of teh month. We have n been having Virtual Meeting since lockdown. Please e-mail me and I will send you a 2020 evenst calendar to show you want a typical year of R18 events are

Thanks David,

Does anyone know of anything anything nearer? Remember I’ve been on Fraggle Rock for the last 22 years so not used to such vast differences for a car services.

Preston surely must have an inde as well as the main dealer? I have an aversion to their prices!

Welcome to R18 region,Derek-we met just the once on the IOM on one of Geoff Ives IOM Tours a few years ago-I am sure David & the R18 members would be interested to have you address one of our meetings about policing on the IOM-there must be lots to tell.
Sadly despite a cottage in Laxey ,we haven't been able to visit the lovely Island since earlier in the year.
Look forward to meeting up with you at some future event.
Best wishes

Colin.

When David said Ultimate Porsche at Westhoughton above, I think he meant Unique Porsche Specialists. They have quite an extraordinary reputation which has been hard earned and they would be well worth travelling to - they are friends of the Club and have presented to R18 in the past. As David says, Porsche Centre Preston is your closest Porsche Centre and enjoys a very strong reputation - as do Bolton and Kendal, both of which are used by many of our members and have supported the Club for many years. Preston and the Fylde coast are generally a bit light on Porsche indies. Again, as David said, Jasmine also have a strong local reputation.

Welcome to the region, hopefully one day Preston won't be in lockdown and we can all meet up again!

Welcome to R18 Derek.

Why an independent and not a PC? I certainly would not rule out the PC as they can be competitive.

At least it’s worth getting a quote from Preston, Bolton and Kendal PCs before you go to an indie who few have heard about in the R18 area. They may well turn out superb but I always go on recommendations.

I have had Porsche's for 30 years and live just about 15 mins from Lytham and I have never heard of this company until now.

I think when the 997 comes under the classic regime then it will be worth looking at OPC. For a Major, the IOM Centre wanted £700, plus £600 if the plugs needed doing - which they did! I knew I needed quite a few other things doing too, such as the tandem pump, Lambda sensors, track rod ends, brake hoses/ lines, rear tyres, so it has all added up. I even had some corroded bolts replaced on the exhaust, complete with New gaskets to get ahead of the jobs.

First job will be an MOT prior to re register, then I’m actually hoping that is it until 2022!
