thanks Phil

Hmmm, not working for me now either. Seller is Paul Butcher plnbutcher@gmail.com
Drop him an email and he should send details and photos. Mention I gave you his address.
Car is 1988 Carrera sport, Guards red, G50, Linen interior etc.
Recent work includes glass out respray, top end engine rebuild, new leather on sports seats and loads of other stuff.

Hi Phill

I am a bit concerned it wanting a top end rebuild, value guides and piston rings at
only 63k on the clock. scruffy interior normal hi mileage dose the mileage check out with MOT and invoices.?

These cars are hard wearing and long lived.

Charles.

A lot of Porsches in the 80's were purchased by city yuppies, only used for short trips around town, small blast without a proper heat cycle of the engine, etc. which caused a lot of carbon build up and hence requiring top end around this mileage. I leak down test and bore inspection will provide more clarity. I have a linen interior, marks on the seats are reflective of its age as much as mileage and I've gone through several gear knobs in my time - my seat are now in storage and replaced with Recaro Pole Positions!

Mechanically 3.2 with a G50 are generally very strong, I and many other IB owners (have a look at the Impact Bumper forum) can testify to that. The real issue to be wary of is rust. It can hide rust very well in the sills, B pillar and front wings (IB's didn't come with inner wheel liners) etc.
As with any older Porsche purchase have it inspected.

Good Luck.
