SD to GTS

Hi All, My Macan SD had its 6th birthday this week, so it had its MOT and 111 Point Check for the extended Warranty (2 more yrs). As with all my service centre visits, No issues or observations which, I guess, should be the case at 29,500 miles. I find it very hard to part with this car (I love it!) but I have made the mental switch to a new Macan GTS. Im well into the configuration, homing in on my spec. Next step will be a deposit.

Im trying to keep below a £64,000 retail. 'Special' paint at £1,676 is a big hit but I like Carmine Red. Is the (large!) price adder for a 'special' paint treatment and finish or is it just marketing / uniqueness of those colours?
BTW, with the inevitable stone chips, it would be nice to have the undercoat similar to the top paint colour as the current white undercoat really makes chips stand out on dark paint.

So, for those of you with a GTS my question is what do you think the "Must Have" options are?
The main options Ive gone for so far are:
Sports Seats Plus
Sports Chrono Package
Park Assist with Reversing Camera
Privacy Glass
Multi Function GT Sports Steering Wheel
Garnet Red Instrument Dial
Garnet Red Chrono Stopwatch

I like the RS Spyder Wheels with the bright outside finish but have to go to 21" wheels plus £639. I would be nice if these were available in 20" but it seems Satin Black is the only 20" option.

Comments appreciated

Thank you

Barry

For me, a spare wheel and a heated steering wheel were non-negotiable extras, on top of the list you quote.

You can have 20" Macan Turbo wheels painted in Black (high-gloss) or Jet Black metallic - both with diamond cut (silver) spokes as a £387.00 option. [;)]

Failing that you could order the satin black in 20" and have your PC repaint them. Most PCs will have a specialist wheel refinisher they use , so the process is usually highly successful and for relatively low cost.

Clive

Paint costs has to be one of the biggest rip-offs by all car makers

It can't cost a penny more to paint a car red. In fact, that was the 'free' colour on base Polos

My GTS is red and it does suit the car [:)]

can't really compare with previous macans as I've only had a GTS and it has quite a few options on it.
out of curiosity I got the factory spec from porsche uk and deciphering it below shows what I think were options added (but some may be factory spec options for GTS) so forgive any errors - maybe helps you decide what you would like on yours while you browse the configurator :)

things I have and like and would want again are:
- 75 litre fuel tank (must have)
- panoramic roof (like this a lot)
- park assist with reversing camera
- multifunction steering wheel
- black dials (option to remove the red ones - which I'm pleased about as prefer the black)
- I hate alcantara seat centres - mine has full leather GTS seats and I'd want that (personal thing though)
- bose
- extended leather interior (door, console, dash, etc)
- smoker package (puts a flap on console cubby - I'm not a smoker and neither was previous owner)

things I have on it that I like but am not sure I'd have paid for new are:
- privacy glass
- black brushed aluminium interior trim (nice)
- 21 inch turbo wheels (they ride a lot better than you'd expect so quite like these)
- black roof rails
- painted sideblades
- sportdesign package incl side skirts
- memory seats
- connect plus (still figuring that out)

and probably some other bits I've not figured out from the spec list yet - but those are the main ones.

and I'm having a spare wheel retro-fitted - seems a sensible precaution
and adding a set of winter wheels next week - apparently 19's or bigger now only - 18's are gone from the catalogue.

hope that helps

Barry,

The Macan GTS was my first choice, but for reasons of an earlier delivery plus an enhanced part exchange offer, I opted for offer of the Turbo model instead.

Spec choice is always a personal choice and we all have our preferences, and I must say I was also drawn to the Carmine Red paint but baulked at the cost. I ended up choosing Sapphire Blue which I am very happy with. This colour goes well with the 21" 5 spoke Sport Classic wheels painted GT Silver. They are also a joy to clean.

When I was choosing the options on my prospective Macan GTS, I also specced the Sports Seats Plus but eschewed the 18-way memory option as I thought it unnecessary. Wrong! The Turbo comes with 18-way Sports Seats Plus as standard, and believe me they are fabulous! I have never experienced such orthopaedic comfort before in any of my previous Porsche models. The extensive adjustability of the seats to suit your own body shape cannot be underestimated. I would recommend them unreservedly. Certainly better value than the colour of paint in my opinion.

The panoramic sun roof brightens the interior when the roof blind is retracted, and also provides the additional benefit of fresh air motoring on warm sunny days.

One other essential in my opinion is the Smokers Pack. This unfortunately named option is very modestly priced but offers advantages far beyond its cost. A neat damped cover hides the usual dust gathering void on the console and also provides a handy power source via the cigarette lighter socket for a dash cam or a C-Tek battery charger. Really, Porsche should provide this minor but very handy fitment as standard.

I hope this helps you decide on the final spec for your Macan GTS.

Brian
