Tracking Devices

Hi,

Just about to purchase a 992 C2S and spoke to lockton who are insisting on a tracker being fitted due to high value.
I know that there are other companies I could try who may not insist on one but have been happy with Locktons over last couple of years on my Cayman 718S, this is in spite of uncompetitive quotes in earlier years. The initial quote on the 992 appears quite reasonable in comparison to the existing price but I will of course shop around as this is the first rule of buying insurance. I would need to factor in the annual subscription as part of the insurance cost.

Was wondering what the installation costs and annual subscriptions were for the Porsche Vehicle tracking system and whether it is effective/reliable.

Are there other systems that are better ?

Thanks

Neil

Neil,

They come fitted as standard. My 992 has just reached 12 months and I decided not to renew with Porsche/Vodafone, but the first year came with the car.

Hi.

The 992 has a built-in tracker system that links to the 'My Porsche' website. When purchasing the car last year a number of people had major problems with this 'new' system getting activated.

I had to renew the tracking service...Here was the cost for a year;

I recently purchased a 992 C2S and was informed by Locktons that I had to have a tracker fitted. The cost of the insurance was a massive 4 fold increase on my Cayman 2.7. I need to take it, but come renewal I will be hunting around.

I browsed on the interweb and thought I had found a good deal for a tracker. Before I went ahead I sopke to the OPC prior to delivery they said that having a 3rd party fit a tracker would invalidate the Porsche Warranty as they would have to cut into the vehicle wiring. They have you by the curly's.

The Porsche tracker fitted as standard was activated

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for the comments. Went to look at the car and test drive it and decided to take the plunge!
The dealer said that it is equipped with a tracker so I will go with this as I don’t fancy someone else messing with the wiring and the potential warranty issues mentioned above.

Thanks

Neil
