I've not been following 924 prices very closely but might now have an interest. Where are 924 prices going in general for cars in the £8-12K range. I've followed 944 Turbo prices and for good cars clearly they are strong after being pretty weak 10 years ago. Are good 924 cars following that pattern?
What age of car has rear seat belts fitted as standard? On earlier cars can they be fitted to the same secure standard?

My 944 turbo needed a lot of sill/ wheel arch repairs at one point, are 924's likely to be the same for a similar age car?

I believe rear seat belts were a compulsory fitment from 1986 in the UK though cars are likely to have had anchor points from 1984 when it was cumpulsory in Germany.

Having had both cars, my feeling is that 924s received a better/thicker galvanising than 944s in part because it was early days in applying this to cars and the PR dept. wanted it to be a success. The sills on my 40 year old 924 were in much better condition than my 34 year old 944.

You should find most 924 models have the fittings for lap belts (although I don't know for 100% on very early models) which can be retro fitted. As Vince says it'll be about '86 when anchor points for the seatbelt reels that live in the boot were fitted but a lot of owners have fitted static 3 point seatbelts in the rear using the lap belt fitting points and the 3rd one on the pillar.

Regarding sills and body work mine is a 1982 and the sills are original and rock solid even though it went through a few owners where is wasn't looked after or cared for. They can go in the usual places but from what I've seen and read they are not as susceptible as 944s when it comes to rust and rot.

Values - I couldn't buy a MOT'd one now for what I paid 7 years ago so they have increased but as always they're only worth what the buyer is happy to pay.

I have owned 4 924's. A 2 litre Lux, a Series 2 Turbo and 2 924S's that I still own. None of them have had a rust problem despite spending most of their time outside and not covered.

Thanks guys your 924 experiences seem to have been better that my 944. Don't get me wrong the turbo was a lovely car to drive but with Turbo issues, a/c and sill /wheel arch rot it was expensive on a per mile basis
