Macan GTS Apple Car Play

Hi all,

I currently have a 981 Boxster which I am looking to replace with a Macan GTS. My budget allows for a 17/18 plate GTS, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me when Apple Car Play was introduced?

Given Covid-19 the car will be used initially for the commute instead of using the train (981 was the weekend car) so Apple Car Play would be a big advantage for me (The Boxster is a 13 plate and the entertainment system is dismal, doesn't even have DAB!).

Also as an aside (I haven't been watching the market for too long), has the new GTS had a noticeable impact on the original GTS residuals? As a potential buyer the prices seem to be pretty strong still, would I be right?
Perhaps theres still room for some more price re-adjustments given the current climate we find ourselves in.

thanks for your help.
Tom

Apparently Apple Car Play was standard from 2018 but an option from 2016. Mine doesn't have it but has a much better PCM than my 2013 Cayman 981. I'm happy with it without Car Play as the bluetooth linkage, swipe screen and navigation is much better than before. However, I'd suggest that you take a look at the option page on the Porsche UK website.

As for cost, the new GTS model has only been available for a few months and I bought my March 2017 GTS knowing that a new model was due. I'm prefer the older style and engine too. Who knows what will happen to residuals in due course but I bought in December knowing that 3 year old big engine petrol cars won't be available for much longer. Look out for the change in road tax in April 2017 onwards too.

Thanks very much for your helpful answers. It seems that I should be able to find it on a 17 car.

Ive been looking for an SUV for a while and Ive had newer cayenne‘s and Macan‘s as curtesy cars but I don't get the same emotional feeling when I get over all the new fancy gadgets. The noise of the GTS is where its at!

In reply to your last post, of course happy to help. It's worth also noting that the GTS has loads of standard kit that you need to pay for on the standard car or S. You should ensure that the GTS has the sports exhaust also this is probably a standard item and ensure that it has sports chromo. You may not use the timer but its worth having for the additional PASM options and a gearbox that goes mental on the back roads.

I wasn't sure about the sports chrono, I currently have it, but it seems really aggressive for road driving.

The GTS comes with the sports exhaust as standard as well as PASM, Parking Sensors, Lane Assist, Cruise, DAB & Bluetooth so no need to worry there and if you like the noise then having the sports chrono package too when activated in either mode will rev match so as the car changes down in gear you get the pops and bangs when slowing down at a junction or roundabout. Take it from me, it brings a smile to your face even if it is a bit boy racer-ish, however, I don't think you would want 'Sport Plus' on much of the time as your consumption will probably be below 16 mpg. Funnily enough Sat Nav is not standard and costs an about an extra £1000 as an optional extra so if you want it make sure it's there. I've not got ACP but as said above the phone links in via blue tooth or when plugged in to charge it also connects and can be controlled by the PCM.
Things I would look out for that I miss from my 'S' is a pan roof and the BOSE speaker upgrade, but as I said it does come as standard with a lot more kit than the 'S' as well as being 15mm lower and it has more horsepower.
I have had mine now for 5 months and I love it, as for depreciation I don't think i will be too bad, when you have a 'GTS' badge on the back of the car, people want them so they are more desirable and are easier to sell.
Ashgood Porsche just had a 2017 Carmine Red, high spec and I think it went for approximately £40,000 ish or just below with 24,000 on the clock which was an amazing deal as I think it was worth nearer £42,000 so time to get a good deal in the current climate.
If you got any other questions, just ask.........
