BREAKDOWN COVER

Hi,
I hope you are all ok.
I've seen Porsche warranty has been extended 3 months for cars with warranty expiring now, but i haven't seen Porsche assistance mentioned in those news. Do you know if it will be extended too?

Any recommendations/experiences for breakdown cover insurance? (I've been checking AA and RAC as they are the most popular)

Many thanks!

Stay safe, Manuel

Hi Manuel.

Re breakdown cover, If you get the Porsche version you have a Porsche trained recovery person.AA or RAC a trained recovery person.Either way if it was me I would rather them just put the car on the truck and get me home. Tbh that's all they really do nowadays as there not a lot they can repair on the road side.If you get a puncture they can call out a mobile fitter -stay away from the stuff Porsche supply to fix it.
Stay safe.

Thanks!, just one thing, when you mention the Porsche version is that the Porsche assistance or AA and RAC have a type of cover for Porsches?

cheers, Manuel

Sorry Manuel I did mean the Porsche assistance .
Only used them once don't remember if Porsche assistance have their own fleet of Van's or they train AA or RAC staff.Maybe ring Porsche at Reading for the info. Or maybe another member can chip in.

The one call out I had last year to the Macan using Porsche Assistance got me an AA man. He said he didn't have the tools to properly read the error code nor the ability to fix it anyway. As the car was driveable in limp home mode he followed me to Silverstone in case I broke down then drove me home. He did say that as a PA call out I had jumped the queue so he had been diverted from another job to attend to me.
I went back a couple of days later under my own steam to collect it (faulty turbo actuator).

I had to call them a couple of times and it was AA picking up the car as well. I've just received the letter from Porsche Hatfield confirming the extension of the warranty but no mention at all about Porsche assistance so i understand that is not extended. I'll call to find out.
I hope to see you all soon, even if it has to be through the windows of a car only!

Manuel
