Snipped wires?

Hi whilst looking for a reversing light switch I discovered these two snipped wires, can anyone shed some light?
The are locate just left of the gear lever (Automatic) I think the yellow and black are to do with the manual select when using tiptronic which btw works fine
thanks
all the best

Good grief, you do have some issues with this car!

As I said on RennTech, the reversing lights get their feed from the multi-function switch on the gearbox itself.

The wiring diagram only shows the four wires going up to the black connector. Two are for the manual shift switch you can see, and two are for a magnetic switch to prevent starting in anything other than P and N. It looks like those two wires connect to the white wires, and head off to the magnetic switch somewhere in the lever assembly.

I'm guessing you can start the car in D, R, or M.......

Thanks for reply, unfortunately can start the car at the moment as sent alarm module off for testing, have a central locking issue with the fuel flap and remote key access, the list is getting smaller, I had a peak in the unit and found this ( see pics ) a great place to put a unit in a cabriolet :)

Hmmm. Yes, that will definitely be the cause of your locking problems. Hopefully they can salvage it, but don't hold your breath. I have heard of companies that can remove or read out the EEPROM and put it into a known good used unit. Also check out JMG Porsche near Bournemouth, as they have tricks for reviving these units.

I agree, it is a stupid place for any electronics - the lowest part of the floor pan. It isn't just cabrios. A blocked drain on a coupe can have the same effect. Porsche got wise with the 9x7 cars, and put the control unit on the side of the transmission tunnel. However, they filled the space on the floor with the rear body control module......

Hi Richard, I think you may have helped with another matter, when I put the car in neutral the reversing lights come on, I think at one point they came on whilst in drive, so I simply removed the bulbs, BUT MOT is looming so a new neutral safety switch might be needed to solve both issues ;-) ££££££
