924 Register HQ has received a message asking for information about a "924 Doubloon"

My printed material does not mention it, unless I have missed it.
Porsche Cars resource Porsche Classic Originalteile Katalog for the 1976-1979 and 1980-1985 model years also makes no mention of it.
Also a search of this very forum turns up no results.

I have scant unconfirmed information so far but a basic online search points to a UK market limited run of 50, in a pale gold colour that were produced in the 1979 Model Year.

So I will throw it open to everyone here - what information is out there?

I have found a brief reference in 'Porsche 924' by Brian Long page 94 ISBN:1901295850
All it says is "in addition, the UK marketed 50 gold 924s with the Doubloon appelation.".

I had one!!!

I had one in the 90s. DPL 155T. I only ever saw one other and that was owned by Jeff May from this club. He had no idea it was a limited edition until I told him. Steve Kevlin told me at the time that only 50 were made.

Thank you Biltel!

Great to have this information, I wonder if the car is still out there somewhere especially considering its rarity.

I doubt it. Nobody seemed to know or care at the time. There was a rarer 924 at PCGB. Have you ever seen the Aramis car?
