hi
I am having intermittent problems with Tiptronic gear shift it's getting stuck in one gear and won't change up or down whichever way I try and change to make work again I'm having to pull over switch off and reboot/start and it cleared has anyone got any ideas why this might be happening?

From my admittedly limited knowledge of Tip gearboxes, it could be down to dirty oil and /or filter. Most likely both given the age of the car. Even if it's not done mega miles it's worth getting it changed as a first step. From then on, you're into diagnostic wizardry.

A little late noticing this but as already mentioned by STiG911 it's probably an oil change that's needed. These gearboxes are very robust and reliable and maintenance often gets ignored. Oil changes work wonders especially after high mileage and/or many years of use, so this might be an easy fix.

Yes I’ve change the filter and oil it made no difference so now had the linkage stripped and oil and a new selector cable and its work perfectly thanks
