Rusty wheel bolt heads? The cheap cover up

Fed-up with rusty wheel bolt heads I thought I would try some simple plastic covers for the 19mm af heads, and a plastic cover for the locking bolts (25mm dia)

Pictures say it all. Getting covers for the locking bolts were found as tube end covers, dirt cheap.
Whole lot cost just under £10.

I was going to fit those bolt head covers on my previous Cayman but couldn’t find a solution for the head of the locking wheel bolt so well done you for coming up with a very neat solution!

I did mine by spaying them gloss back. I took three bolts out of each wheel and mounted them in a piece of cardboard to stop the threads getting any paint on them.
Gave them a few coats and once dry replaced them and took the others out and repeated the process.
Got some new centres and next job is to get the wheels refurbed.

As ever, several ways to skin a cat!
I couldn't find a set of 19mm a/f covers (4) and a 25mm inside dia cap for the locking bolts I have (possibly aftermarket), hence the tube cover.

I hope not to remove the wheels too often (!) so prising the locking covers off will not prove to be too much of a pain.

in this method make sure you put the cover removal clip in the tool box by the locking wheel nut key! (or a pair of long nose pliers)[;)]

Painting the faces of the bolts is a good idea and even cheaper!
This must be the very cheapest job I've ever done to my Boxster....

Springs coming!
