CAT Driver Training

Phil has offered members to book a number of driver training days at Millbrook with CAT Driver Training. Many of us from the 991 and 992 Registers enjoyed a similar day last year, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn and understand their car in safety and with top instructors. You'll get loads of one to one experience in your own car, but also classroom instruction that PEC or Trackdays simply do not offer. It is this, IMO, that sets them apart. If you're thinking of getting to grips with your car with lots to take away from the day then here's one member who'd vouch for the team at CAT Millbrook.

I've booked in for the follow up day and hope to meet some of last year's participants.

Wearing your winners cap I presume Peter!!!

I'm thinking of going too. It mentions 1 hour 40 minutes of 1 to 1 driver instruction so I'm assuming the rest of the time is spent in the car on your own with communication via a headset perhaps - I just want to get this clarified but otherwise looks good and will be useful to test the car in safe conditions.

There's a range of segments to the day, including classroom sessions that I found very instructive, followed by practical demonstrations in both your and their vehicles. The day is broken up into a variety of topics and you get to use all the various different test tracks at Millbrook. Circulating the banked circuit at high speed is a memorable experience for example. Their knowledge of the 911 and it's dynamics is extensive too. No headsets, by the way, you have the instructor sitting with you at all times and they supply crash helmets.

Thanks Peter

They have just sent through some more dates and I think I'm going to bool Saturday 4th July.

I don't think I'll do too well in the Gymkhana section - Visibility out the back of the Cab and rear quarters is terrible - I might have to use the cameras ha ha !!

Hi Peter

This may come as a shock me posting on the Forum but I am booked on the Saturday 13 June Cornering Masterclass, I think this is the same date as you?

There has been an amazing response to Millbrook with the 4 original dates fully booked, 3 extra dates added plus 2 Cornering Masterclass dates for last year's graduates and others as it is not essential to have done the Performance Driver Training to join the Cornering Masterclass groups.

The current situation is 2 places remain for the 17th April and 1 for the 19th June. Cornering Masterclass 1 place available on both dates Saturday 9th May and Saturday 13th June. 49 places booked - 5 remaining.

The next step is to post some dates for the other Porsche Club members to share this amazing facility.

All the best

Phil

Hi Phil
I'm booked in on the 9th May and looking forward to that, but sure we'll both get a lot from the experience.

A great result to have so many owners booked in and shows the appetite for opportunities to learn more about our cars.

Hi Tony

I don't remember using any reversing skills apart from spinning out and going backwards on the apron! One of the activities in this open space and completely safe.
