981 Hood

A loud rattle has started at the rear when the hood is up on my 2012 Boxster S. I think (?) I have narrowed it down to the top end of the slim, curved, profiled steel support running from the body to the hood at each end of the rear screen. At the top this is held in place by a pin forming part of the support but, in my case, there is no circlip etc. holding this pin in place in the housing at the top. It appears that when the hood is lowered the pin slips out and then starts rattling against the metal housing when the hood is raised again (I think).

Has anyone else had this problem or are able to advise (or check on their car whether there should be any form of retainer)?

I have attached a photo to explain the location - most of the support is behind the fabric but the top end and towards the bottom are visible.
