hi looking at buying a 3.2s boxster its a 2002 got a 130000 miles on it any one tell me to watch out for when buying one of these cars

Only advice I would give anyone before buying any Porsche get it checked out by your local OPC or Porsche independent.
Especially one that's a few years old and has high mileage.
Good luck.

Can I ask where you are looking at this car ...private or dealer There are a few nice ones around one advertised on this forum in the Scottish region ...where are you based .I have a 2003 3.2S Tip 56K miles Seal Grey which may be for sale .

You probably could not buy better Brian's cars are always very nice well maintained examples. Better to pay a bit more for a good example rather than buying a less expensive example.
But as said get any Porsche checked out before buying a couple of hundred quid could save you a lot of heartache and expense.
Good luck.

That age and mileage would mean it has very little value to be honest. I believe these still have the IMS issue, maybe its been done; however if not I doubt it is a problem with those miles. I have often toyed w the idea of getting a Boxster for a track rat; but once you wreck them it can be expensive. Good service records and a good history should help. With a car like this you are buying the previous owner as much as anything! I just moved back to the UK from the US. I would be hard presses to pay more than ?? £8k for this. But conditions and records mean so much here. I normally buy a car and tend to sink a few grand into making it "right"!

If your budget is low and you cant find one that will pass a PPI my advice is 'DON'T Buy one!'

Nothing worse than a bad experience buying your first car of any premium brand[>:]. Keep saving, one will come up and your patience will be rewarded.[:)]
