Hi all,

Apologise in advice if this has been discussed before.

Can anyone recommend a reputable windscreen replacement company...? I'm rather apprehensive about using Autoglass, after reading quite a few horror stories on various forums specifically with replacement windscreens on 911/ Boxster', Caymen's etc...

Any advise or reassurance would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
Ed

Auto glass did a screen replacement on my almost new 986 obviously a good few years ago it had to go to there workshop because it was bonded and they wanted a top man on it. No complaints a good job things might have changed a few years down the line but my experience was a good one.
Only as good as the guy doing the job I guess.
PS ask for a genuine Porsche screen.

Whoever you chose inpsect the finished job minutely. My neighbour had his replaced last week and the fitter managed to chip the metallic white paintwork on the passenger side A pillar.

The same company that Cliff mentioned above. No one treats your baby like you!

Many thanks for your feedback. So true that nobody looks after your car as well as yourself..!

I've just spoken to my local OPC who do in fact use their own 3rd party to replace windscreens. And, funnily enough, it’s not any of the big players! What really annoys me about insurance company’s is that I want the job to be completed to a professional standard, and they see fit to charge me an additional £200 on top of my £190 excess for the privilege of not using one of their preferred repairers!

The question is, do I take the gamble? It seems to be a bit of lottery if it gets repaired to a good standard or not.?

Yes a bit worrying will we get a good job, all one can do is ask for an experienced fitter who has fitted genuine Porsche screens before.
Best of luck.

I had my 996C4S screen replaced some years ago, 2011, in the UK, there were at that time many posts on a number of "independent" glass replacement companies badly fitting screens including cutting the wires connecting the radio and SAT NAV when removing the old screen and for those reason I went to Cambridge OPC to get a new screen fitted. Its was the proper genuine Porsche screen and fitting kit and of course comes with the normal Porsche warranty on fitting etc. Price wise it was more than using a national firm but there were no further problems at all. The car is now in WA OZ still with the same screen which has a few chips in it but will be replaced again next year as I am allowed one free screen replacement a year! So you makes your choice and the best of luck hope it goes well[;)]
