Hi, I am new to PGB. I have owned a 924 for three years or so. I was so taken with the 924 that I have now picked up a 997 cabroliet tiptronic s which I absolutely love. I have just booked in for my first regional event at Porsche Centre Wilmslow. I have attended Porsches on the prom a couple of times and Chatsworth, but never a regional event. So please be gentle with me. I have noticed that Phil is a fellow St Helens lad (even though I now live on the boarder of Wigan these days) so we can talk Coal, glass and rugby!

Hi Stephen,
Welcome to Region 5, we are delighted that you have joined PCGB Region 5 and look forward to meeting you at the club night at the Porsche Centre Wilmslow. We are currently finalising the details for our New Year dinner for the 18th January and have a fabulous weekend planned for Friday 21 - Saturday 22 February at Portmerion. We will have more of our Saturday morning drives in 2020 and are also finalising our plans for a region 5 trip to the Classic Le Mans. I look forward to seeing you at the club night in Wilmslow, in the meantime if you have any questions about any of the events, do please get in touch.
Kind regards,
Martin

Thanks, me too. The classic LE Mans sounds interesting, but I've always said no with the 924. It's also around my son's birthday and the wife always threatens divorce for being away for birthdays, even my blood own!

You could always make it a family event, why not bring you wife and son too?
I’ll be with at least one of my daughters, albeit she will be 22 by then. In the meantime I look forward to catching up with you at the forthcoming club night at the Porsche Centre Wilmslow.

Hi, That's a possibility in the future, my kids are 11 and 8. I think I have agreed a pass out now , he's 10 the following year, I will ensure I am around for that. Is it camping? I know someone who travels there every year in their motor home, he says it quite cheap to camp. Do you use the tunnel or ferry?

Hi Stephen,
Yes we will be camping at the Village on the Porsche Curves and are just confirming our prices with the organisers which will be announced in the next few days. There will be the option to go whichever way you prefer, although I expect that most of us will take the ferry from Portsmouth.
Yours,
Martin

Thanks for the reply, sounds good and I am probably in with this. The ferry from Portsmouth , is it the overnight to San Malo ?

Hi Stephen,
Lycian Events who we will be using can offer a range of different options to suit.

We will probably be using the fast ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg on the Thursday morning.

I hope to be able to confirm the details next week.

kind regard,

Martin

Hi Martin, Thanks for the info. Will I need to speak to this company directly or will you be issuing guidance through this site? I am glad to use the Portsmouth ferry, it makes sense. I was not keen to use the St Malo overnight though. I have used that ferry for family holidays in the past and i could not sleep during the crossing, it just made me feel like a zombie for a week. The fast crossing is only three hours i believe. Whats the drive like to Lemans from Cherbourg?

Just like to say I enjoyed the event, didn't expect 300 to be there! Sorry, didn't speak to anybody. I guess there will be other events.
How do you post when the details of the lemans classic and when can you book?

Hi Stephen,
I’m glad you enjoyed our evening at the Porsche Centre Wilmslow last night and I’m sorry that we didn’t get to meet up. I have just posted the details for our Classic Le Mans Trip in a new thread. However, as requested the details are as follows:

We will be staying at Lycian Events secure camp site which is known as the Village on the Curves. The site includes excellent security together with a regular shuttle bus service to the paddock entrance of the circuit and to the tram stop, which provides regular services to Le Mans City centre. The Village is located on the inside of the iconic Porsche Curves and opens on the Wednesday before the event with the restaurant and bar available. There are designated 35 square metre pitches for single vehicles with up to 4 guests ensuring that you have your own, albeit small private space. The site also includes toilets, showers and for those of you that require it, there is even a pamper tent complete with hair dryers and mirrors! The reception marquee boasts three 50" HD TVs and bar area with bistro-catering providing meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner if required. Lycian Events can provide the following:

• Return ferry crossings
• General Admission tickets
• Superb trackside viewing on the iconic Porsche Curves
• Secure fenced site with 24hr English speaking security
• Lycian representatives available throughout the weekend
• Large pitches for tents, motorhomes and caravans
• Marquee with wide screen televisions to cover 24hr race
• Dining at Café Virage
• Exclusive use of Village by participants and guests
• Cash bar with draught beers
• Private serviced toilets and hot shower facilities
• Free shuttle bus operating to different parts of the circuit

The Confirmed 2020 Classic prices which follow include a PCGB discount of £25 per pitch – the price is based on two people per pitch with a standard car.

£355 per person (includes General Entrance & Paddock Tickets)

Crossings can be arranged to suit your personal requirements however, by way of an example, a number of us are planning to travel via the Portsmouth/Cherbourg fast ferry route outbound on Thursday 2nd July @ 09:00 returning Monday the 6th July @ 17:00 the additional cost for this will be £350 per car.

There are however many other travel options including the overnight ferry to Caen, as well as Dover to Calais or Folkestone to Calais. Lycian Evens will be pleased to provide you with a quote for the crossing of your choice.

There are a number of different camping options as well as the opportunity to take or hire a Motor Home / Caravan on site from Lycian. The camping options are:

Two Person pre-erected tent £165

Proposed Itinerary
You are free to make your own arrangements and plans for the weekend, there will be no fixed itinerary, however a number of us are planning to drive down together to Portsmouth after work on Wednesday the 1st July and will stay overnight at the Travelodge opposite Portsmouth dock, see: https://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/62/Portsmouth-hotel
We will then take the 9:00am fast ferry to Cherbourg on Thursday the 2nd July and we are planning to return on Monday the 6th July at 5pm on the fast ferry from Cherbourg back to Portsmouth.

If you would like to join us for this fabulous informal weekend, we would recommend that you book your crossings with Joy or Saskia at Lycian Events as soon as possible, given that the availability is limited and although Brittany Ferries have only just released the prices we understand that they are selling out fast. All Lycian Events need at this stage is a £100 per person deposit. You need to tell Joy or Saskia that you are part of Martin Davis’s Region 5 / 991 - 992 register group and you will benefit from the small Porsche Club discount and we will all be grouped together on site.
