Is there anyone out there

This 992 forum seems very quiet comparing with other forums.

I m sure there are a number of 992 members out there and read the forum.

When there is no response to questions asked, it is a waste of time posting.

I assume you are all happy with your vehicles.

It needs effort from the Register RS, or a forum-minded person appointed for the purpose, to run it.
When I became 997 RS, I leant quickly from my predecessor, Gary, that it requires someone to post something almost daily in order to keep it fresh and drive members to it.
Anything relevant is fine, be it news, moans, options lists, tricks and tips, how -to features, car care or whatever. It all helps build interest to the site and attract contributors. In short an active and positive attitude to the forum enhances the membership and ownership experience for everyone. [:D]

Clive

Hi there, firstly thank you Huw for all of the interesting posts that you have been putting on our forum, I have really enjoyed reading them. Apologies that I have been quiet recently but to be fair to Porsche, our C2S has been brilliant and has turned out to be everything that we hoped it would be. When we haven’t been working we have been enjoying the car getting some miles on it. The only issue that we have had with our car is an annoying squeak that is coming from the rear of the cabin somewhere, Anthony from our local PC has been absolutely brilliant and he is picking the 992 up from our home tomorrow to take it in for this to be dealt with as well as the software recall and the cup holder rectification, I’ll let you know if there are any issues as a result of this.

I do do not agree that the register RS of the 992 register should necessarily make more effort to make the forum work, I happen to know the considerable effort and time that Phil already puts into the club, our region and the register. This is not the first time that I have witnessed something like this on the PCGB forum, personally I think that it is a shame when we criticise those who are already making a considerable effort and putting in a lot of their free time for our benefit.

It seems to me that there are other forums that appear to be friendlier, less political and more active than that ours. It is very easy to be critical from a keyboard, instead if we want more people to engage, let’s enjoy and celebrate the marque that we all love and feel passionate about. It is down to all of the members of the club and the registers to make the club and the forum work, if it is friendly, informative and engaging people will get involved, alternatively if it is negative and political I suspect they will not.

Hi Martin

The comments I made were not pointed at Phil, I feel that the comments 992 owners make will be beneficial to us all. We are all learning about our cars and comparing to the previous versions.
I have had more problems with this model than all other Porsches I owned. I had one of the first 991, did not experience any teething problems on that.

My car is being returned to the centre on Monday to have new dynamic engine mounts fitted, apparently a problematic issue.

There are several software issues with Porsche connect, which need addressing by Porsche. For instance last week my Car finder was showing my car in Boston USA.

It is still a lovely car, and I am sure all these issues will be sorted.

regards
Huw

I wouldn't worry Huw, it would be a poor Club indeed if everyone making an observation were shot down in flames.
There's always someone coming on here feigning indignation and trying to personalise it.

Having run the 997 Register for 4½ years, I do have a little experience and know it requires somebody with an interest to take care of the forum in order for it to thrive.

In the circumstances, maybe Martin would care to put his name forward! [;)]

Regards,

Clive

Hi Huw, apologies I didn’t for one minute think that you were having a go at Phil. I have absolutely loved reading your positive and interesting posts, they are what make the forum interesting and enjoyable from my perspective. My point was only regarding Clive’s comments regarding the Register RS.

I do not wish to enter a battle of words Clive, I was merely making my own observation and it appears that you have "shot me down in flames for it”. I was not feigning indignation or trying to personalise anything, if anything this experience has illustrated my point as to why people might not want to be so involved with the forum.

992 4S purchased 28/6/19. RS it in on tour through Germany Austria Switzerland and France. On way to Silverstone Classic this morning up came same fault message re PADM! Great brand new car etc etc. Porsche really should get act together before out to customers. So have to wait for parts. Told safe to drive. Then on a forum read about sensor problems. Previous cars 2010 Panamera Turbo, 2016 Panamera Turbo - suspension collapsed in Germany! - 2018 Macan Turbo Exclusive High Performance (great car). So hope to goodness the 992 turns out to be better after fix!

Make sure when they changed the active dampers, they change both, otherwise the other could fail. The parts are in the centre for mine now, and will be changed this week.

I am curious ( very ) what lead you to the conclusion there was something wrong? was is quite obvious or are you super sensitive due to your long history of 911's

Ok, how stupid am I . Just read your prior post related to the subject ....

I notice there’s no entry for 992 in the Porsche Post Registers section this month ??
I’m interested in seeing more as I’m thinking of going 992 ??

Russell, have you test driven the 992 yet? IMHO it's a step up in all areas from the 991.2 I had and the handling with RWS etc is not far off the GT3 in terms of cornering feel. Cracking car - and yes, time for some first hand experience from owners in the 992 Register section.

Not yet Peter, but I’ve heard some good reports. I quite fancy a Targa this time, Trina likes the look of them, so I’ve almost got permission!
It might be a red car next too, I like the lizard green, but she’s not entertaining that colour at the moment.

Is that the wheels and PCCB you have on yours?
if so, the look fab! Post me some pictures please ??

Agree with your comments Peter it will be good to get more of 992 members views.

Is yours PASM with the -10mm option. I did not go for the option on mine but went for the RWS.

Mine is a C2S with no options other than metallic paint and Sport Chrono.

I've had my C2S for a touch over 3 weeks and am at about 2,200 km having put 1,400 km on it yesterday and the day before in a trip to Lyon for which I deliberately took the cross country non peage route.

I'm very pleased with the car. Cabin is a lovely place to be for a long drive. Very comfortable, with very good forward visibility as the A pillar hardly intrudes except on hairpins. AirCon works a treat and I like the Touch Screen.

Handling and performance are everything I expected.

I'm a bit hampered by the lack of an English handbook but that will be remedied next time in the UK. When I get that I'll know whether the Nav function is as good as the one in my BMW 3 Series Touring. Heading for Lyon on Thursday I was trying to search for a hotel at the destination but couldn't make it deliver. The BMW had a function where you could search for a POI at 3 positions - where you were at that moment, your destination and somewhere along the route.

I have a minor gripe with the position of the button which enables you to expand and contract the Nav Screen. Its a slight stretch. The BMW had the equivalent button in exactly the right position IMO - where the cupholder thingy sits.

My only other issue - apart from the unresponsive fuel gauge - see separate post - is that sometimes I get a squeaking sound from what seems to be behind the dash. Tends to happen in the early stages of a journey as if there's an issue with something expanding as the car gets warmer.
