Transmission problems with GEN2 V8 S

Hello everyone,

just a quick intro, I have been a member of the club since we bought our cayenne nearly 4 years ago (2010 GEN 2 V8 S) with 46k miles on the clock. We had a flawless ownership until now servicing our car at OPC East London and the new OPC South London as we live close to Greenwich.

In the last months we noticed some clunky noises in the transmission while the car is accelerating, more noticeable when the car is warm. We recently went to Switzerland on a continental trip and the noises have become louder and the feel harsher (meanwhile I had a transfer box oil change done by a local garage after reading lots in forums but that didn't change anything). In the last few days a new noise has appeared in the rear of the car when sharp turning left or right at low speed.

do you guys have any idea what is going on? And more importantly do you know any independent Porsche specialist near me who has experience with Cayennes and their transmission problems that you would recommend? I would happily travel an hour or so to have it checked and repaired by someone with skills.

I would greatly appreciate your help :)
Cheers

Update; we have done about 1500 miles since the transfer box oil change and the noises have totally disappeared...

Glad changing the TC oil sorted the issue for you and good on you for flagging it - per your experience, believe it can take a little time for the change to take effect.

The transmission issue you described is common on these cars (same with my CTT at 50k miles, but no issue since changing the fluid 2 years ago).

I use my OPC, but also an exceptional Porsche specialist in North London near Wembley should you ever need one - worth the trip (I live in SW London). Other common issues include high pressure fuel pumps failing, as well as ignition coils needing to be replaced after a chunk of miles. Make sure you read the thread re: camshaft controller issues - assume Porsche have written to you about resolving this though...

I have taken to changing the TC oil on all services the Porsche has just to be on the safe side.

Cheers @too_good. Apart from the TC oil issue our car has been pretty much faultless. Yes, camshaft controller issues has been dealt with few weeks ago under Porsche UK recall. We haven't had fuel pump or ignition coils issues (yet). Could you DM me details of your Porsche specialist in North London please? Always good to have! We live in SW London too
