I would like to invite R7 members to join us at our R3 Regional Show, entries our now open for members who would like to take part in this years concours competition although spaces will be limited so don't delay.

Our event will follow the same winning format as in previous years with trophies awarded for the top three Regional and visitor class winning cars in our Concours competition. A concours form can be downloaded here along with concours rules.

Further to Greg’s post above I can confirm that the event makes for a very enjoyable day of Porsche Passion.

I’d like propose that drives to Witton be organised from each of our club night venues, meeting up at an agreed point before driving the last part of the journey to Witton Castle where we will park together.

I‘d like to propose that we do what was done in 2017 when we had an R7 group, bring and share picnic which worked well and brought everyone together. Each person/couple/car takes food to share in a quantity they would eat themselves, albeit co-ordinated* so that there is a good variety of picnic food, both savoury and sweet and there should be little waste. We would need people to take their own chairs and some to take picnic tables etc. I’m sure R7 can provide wooden cutlery, paper plates and drink cups, paper serviettes, waste sacks and the like. Of course if members use their own non disposable cutlery, plates, glasses etc. Waste will be reduced.
*split, cars made in an even number year - savoury, made in an odd number year - sweet.

I think we should have the club’s or other gazebos in case it rains but we’d need authorisation to erect them.

Please register your interest and where you would start from i.e. North, south, east or west (maybe Porsche Leeds) club night venues.

We will certainly be interested in doing a drive up from the East Roger.

I will look into a nice route across the moors from a central Eastern location.

Mark and Ann going...In the past we all brought food for a group buffet...thoughts as this was really good and all chipped in!

Sign us up - Happy to meet in Leeds - We'll bring savoury (as per Roger's post - even reg year)

Mark & Julie

As long as I can fit around work Karen and I would be up for this - happy to meet at Sheffield or Leeds.

Sounds 'Goode' to me Roger [;)]
Happy to meet in Leeds and to contribute food for a picnic
My eldest daughter and Alex [grandaughter] live in Darlington and will come along so will bring food for all 3 of us
Peter

Meeting place, route choice and shared picnic.

Further to my post of 12 June, I’ve been reminded that we’ve previously met up at Moto Wetherby Services which is the ideal place for a lot of members and where all facilities are available. I know a group will also be travelling from the East led by Peter Rolt.

In the past a scenic route via Tan Hill has taken place. It’s a fun drive which takes around
two and a half hours with a short break at Tan Hill pub, therefore that group would need to leave Wetherby Services at 9.00am to arrive about 11.30am

The direct A1 route takes about an hour therefore I propose that that group leaves at 10.30 so we all arrive about the same time.

If you’re willing to lead either group please volunteer here.

The idea of a shared lunch has been well received so if you’d like to participate please bring savoury or sweet contributions based on whether your car was first registered
In an even numbered year = savoury
In an odd numbered year = sweet

Drinks of any type will of course be welcome.

If you are able to bring a picnic table and chairs that will be appreciated too. Please remember to bring your own cutlery. This is very much a shared effort.

In order to avoid waste please only bring a quantity roughly equivalent to a picnic amount the occupants of your car might eat.

We will ensure that we have waste bags and kitchen roll.

Roger and Elaine Goode

Hi everyone
This is a reminder that R3’s Regional Show takes place at Witton Castle near Bishop Auckland on Sunday 18th. At least 50 R3 cars visited our Yorkshire Porsche Festival and it would be great if a similar number or more return the compliment. The weather forecast is promising.

Please read my previous post for details of where and when the group drive is starting and for details about the shared picnic which seems to be popular with people I’ve spoken to. If you can bring a table, chairs and perhaps a gazebo it would be appreciated.

I’m sure we’ll have a great day.

Regards
Roger

It looks like we may drive over to Whetherby to join you for the scenic run Roger, we have no details of any other cars making the trip from out here in the East of the region but will have a better idea after tomorrows joint meeting of R4/R7 at Beverley.

It looks as though only a small number of R7 members will be supporting the North East Show tomorrow which is a disappointing given the 50 plus cars from R3 that supported the Yorkshire Porsche Festival.

The forecast looks reasonably good for the Bishop Auckland area, however, a moderate breeze is forecast so the idea of erecting gazebos may not be a good one. We don’t want to risk a gazebo blowing away and potentially damaging Porsches, therefore please don’t bring one.

I’ve printed directions showing the route to Witton Castle Country Park via Tan Hill Inn and I’ll distribute them at Wetherby Moto Services which we aim to leave at 9.00am. We should arrive at the show soon after 11.30am.

Roger

We are going however we wasn’t planning on doing the long route was just meeting at services to leave at 10.30 and go A1 way. Anyone else doing that if not we will just go straight there. Julie & Mark

Hello, we will be getting to Wetherby service 10.15 - 10.20 and doing the direct route to the show. We will be in the silver 996, so if anyone else is heading up there, we will drive up with you.

Cheers,

Tony & Linda
