so which is better if the cars only got one.

im looking at a Chrono car and was interested in adding Pse but quoted 2400 so prob not.thats from a specialist so opt must be much higher ??

Lots of hi spec cars will have both
I would wait till you find one as I would regard both as essential!,

Both can be added, you just don't get the clock with the chrono retrofit. My PSE was £1750 from OPC. 981CS

PSE because its expensive. Chrono cheaper to add later and if ia manual then a sprintbooster is more than adequate.

can you tell me where and when please as thats a good price
It was at Hatfield (not known for reasonable pricing!) in March. They had it in stock when I enquired which is why I think good price.

Just had PSE fitted at OPC Wolverhampton £2300. Awesome .Already got Chrono but haven't used Launch control yet .

Adrian , Iv got conflicting reports on whether I’d need new twin tail pipes or not , did yours t/f over or did you pay for new ones

2 day job ??

Had new tailpipe - old one was the oval one - not very pleasing to the eye In my opinion. It was supposed to be done in a day but new switch hadn't arrived so had to have a new Macan courtesy car overnight [:D]

I didn’t realise you could have chrono retrofitted.... what would that get you on a manual car? Would it be worth doing as I don’t have it on mine.

Tom,

Sport Chrono on my manual 987.2 CS gives a more responsive throttle pedal, and the engine DME is essentially ‘remapped’ to make it feel more responsive and livelier, although overall power remains unchanged.

If you have them, PASM and PSE are also activated; and in cars equipped with PDK the shifts are faster and the gears are held longer, along with some other features. Plus, I think that the PSM trigger threshold is raised so that assistance doesn’t kick in as early.

Car failed the PPI soon the hunt again , will try and get PASM and pse and as said above can add th Chrono electronics later....

Hi Motorhead,

Thanks for the info and feedback. On my 981 it has a Sport button (btw the car is manual 2.7) which i guess does something similar to what you described? No PASM or PSE, but the latter is on my shopping list for later this year for sure!

Cheers,

Tom

Tom,

I may be wrong but I think the Sport button introduced on the 981-series was a standard feature which gave a more responsive throttle response setting and - maybe - a more responsive engine mapping. Your Driver's Manual should give you a more detailed explanation.

Hi Jeff,
Yep your right its a standard fitment and although its meant to have the same effect as you describe, I'm sure its all in my mind.

Either way, although its only the smaller engine, I love my first Porsche. This was a tester for me and its not disappointed and is actually even quite reasonable to run, often averaging 34-36mpg+ on my boring slog into work. Had it a year now and covered about 15,000 miles. I definitely now have the bug for something faster and have always had a soft spot for a Carrera 4s, although I recon the running costs are not going to be quite so pleasant!

No immediate plans and looking forward to enjoying what i have for a little longer yet!

Cheers,
Tom

Mine has PSE and Sport Chrono Pack - I wouldn't be without either.
PSE alone is a fairly subtle change, but add in Sports Plus mode and it's a whole new ballgame. It may be subjective/placebo, but it feels much snappier and more aggressive.
