Silly question, but, have you checked your tracking, suspension, pressures etc?

Where is the wear? I really doubt its the tyre, but that's just me

Michelins on my 911 (964) not wearing well. Only 6,500 miles for rears and I am not driving hard ! Any advice on brand for better wear ?

You may get a better response if you post in the 964 forum. This area is for advice on using the forum. [;)]

What size wheels are you using and what brand of Michelins are they?

When you say you're getting wear, is that over the whole tyre or one edge or the centre part of the tyre.

What tyre pressure do you use?

I've no experience yet of the Pilot Sport 2 tyres but just had them fitted to my trackday wheels. They are a hard semi slick tyre and I've been warned that they need warming up before giving it wellie.

I've used other Michelins and had reasonable mileage out of them.

There's a list of approved tyres in the FAQ section with a rolling resistance and wet weather handling guide.

I've reproduced the relevant page below.

I always used P-Zeros in the past, but they stopped making them in my size, so I moved to the Continentals.

Much prefer the P-Zeros and I think they have started making them in 16s again.

Thanks Colin but how much wear did you get in miles out the rear Pirelli's ?

I used them on my 944S2 and remember getting best part of 20K out of them, but that is obviously RWD.

20k is good. The 911 is also RWD but the difference is that the weight of the engine is also over the rear tyres unlike the 944 where the engine is in the front.

I have been on Bridgestone S02's (N3) for the better part of 10 years now and up for a new set soon. Just wondering if it's worth trying out something new. I have been very happy with all aspects to date so I want to avoid changing to something worse.

Hi Matthew. Thanks for your input. Funny you should mention the Bridgestones as those are what I am considering replacing the Michelins with. How many miles have your rear Bridgestones done and how many miles do you estimate they have got left in them or better still how many mm of tread do they have left on them if you are able to measure that easily ?
