I am told first Cabs started to arrive in UK end of last last week. Any sightings?

YES! my wife and I took advatage of the hot weather on the weekend and dropped the top of the 981S and went looking at houses. We ended up in a really posh area in Thorpe Bay, Essex, and lo and behold; a silver 992 C2S. So they are certainly hitting the ground now.

Hi Eric
I was in line for one of the first 4S Coupes into my dealership then the cabriolet was announced with the first four cars changed to 2 coupes, 2 cabs - would I like to have the cabriolet I was working towards? Yes please as long as the delivery is still the end of March. Unfortunately with all new models there are issues and the early holdups were caused by a problem with the cup holder and contents being too close to the parking brake switch. Most cars were delayed into April. Even more unfortunate was a problem with the cabs (possibly failed the leak tests) and delivery dates were vague and heading towards June.
Nobody is to blame and the staff don't seem to be able to get up to date info on when deliveries will be made. No point in getting annoyed, the staff at Wilmslow always do their best for me.
The promise of one of the first cars became an embarrassment to me as I needed a car to start off the 992 Register and I was given a showroom 4S Coupe at the beginning of May with the cab delayed at least a further month into June. Two and a half weeks later the cabriolet turned up out of the blue with two others, so the coupe went back last Tuesday and I will probably collect it at the end of next week.
Regards
Phil

Anyone in the Brighton area waiting for a Miami Blue Cab? I passed it on a transporter heading down the A23 this morning.

Quick update.
My Cab is ready for collection on Friday. Getting rather excited. Need this awful weather to improve.
Whilst sad to have waved goodbye to my F Type R last night, I'm sure that it will be quickly forgotten once I'm behind the wheel of the 992.

Fingers crossed for the weather, next week looks better
Hope the handover goes to plan. Found a couple of very small imperfections on my PPF when looking under the showroom lights - so it has had to go back to Reading for a new bonnet PPF and one of the stoneguards had an edge lifting so that's being replaced too. Disappointing but better to get it right from the off.

I was really keen to have one of the first Cabs so managed to put down a deposit back in February 2018 at Porsche Wolverhampton to try and get to the front of the queue. When the Coupe was announced I specced one up with the intention of chopping it in for a Cab later in the year when we thought they would be released. However the Cab was announced before my spec had not been locked in and so went for a 4SCab which we picked up on June 15th - I didn't tell my daughters we were getting a new car so it was a nice surprise for them

Deliberated over the colour and spec but went for Crayon with Satin Wheels to match the black roof and black sports exhaust. I'm really pleased with the car and interested to see how everyone else is getting on with their 992s ?

All went well at the hand over apart from the fact that the manual and service book have gone AWOL !!

I had the front end and Sills/Rear Arches PPFd and washing the car for the first time  today I'm really glad I decided to do it.

A note to the wise - don't clean a new black cab roof with brand new lime green wash mitts - it gave me a finish I didn't want but at least that sticky roller think I'd had in the bottom of my wardrobe at last found a use ha ha !!

Thought these were now pre-loaded into the PCM, but can't be sure.

Yes the manual is on the PCM, you also should have received a hard copy, not leather any more as it used to be a few years ago.

Hi Clive

Yes the manual is loaded into the car but I think its pretty much an abridged version and reading it from a good old fashioned book always seems a lot easier to me !!

Kind Regards

Hi Huw

The paper manual arrived in the post today with the service book which was not stamped with the PDI inspection etc so this will mean another trip to the dealership. How are you getting on with your 992 ? Are your Black wheels painted or satin and what do you clean them with ? I used Autoglym neutral alloy cleaner yesterday which did a good job but has left a red residue on the inside of the wheel which needs to be wiped off with cloth/water once all of the water has dripped away.

Kind Regards

Tony

My dealer didn't have the manual available. I am waiting for it to be delivered.

A minor issue has arisen. The off side rear quarter window doesn't like to close. It goes half way up and then closes back down. Had to open the driver's door to get it to close. Will be returning car to the dealer if it doesn't self heal.

Otherwise, enjoying the car, and can't wait to get the first 1k miles in.

My 992 has now done over 2500  miles and goes very well. I did over 800 miles on our region R14 Irish trip. I found it very comfortable on some of those Irish rough B roads, the 4 way sport plus seats are just right, I had them previously on the GTS.

I still have problem with the Porsche connect app and my Porsche on the web, not updating the trip data from the car, it works when the PCM in the car is changed to Kilometres per hour, I found this when I changed from the Irish trip. I have a ticket open with Porsche connect, they have not sorted it yet. I would be grateful if you can inform if your trip data updates OK, this will eliminate software issue.  (This is doing by head in)

My wheels are Satin black and I have not had much problems in cleaning them. I have used various cleaners for the wheels, presently I am using Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel cleaner. After I have finished cleaning the wheels, I blow the water from the disks with a leaf blower, this prevents getting the rusty ring on the inner rims.

i did notice earlier that the  data relating to the mileage on the car and app appeared to be syncing correctly but I didn’t pay much attention to the other data - I will have a look and let you know.

Good idea about a blower to get rid of the excess water in the wheels to prevent residue marks after cleaning - I will look for a small blower online, I don’t fancy lugging the large garden one from the shed !

have you managed to get apple car play working in the car ? I would have thought the app would have been preinstalled asitbis on my wife’s XC 90 but I can’t see it anywhere ?

My apple car play works fine, ensure you have the latest operating system on your phone.

I have posted some pictures on another post on this forum.

In regards to my trip update from the car to the connect app. The total milage is always in sync, it is on the trip data the information is incorrect.

Hi David,
Your 992 Cabriolet looks great, I am excited for you, I love new car days and can never sleep the night before collection.
I thought that you would go for the black one. I love the RS Spyder design wheels too, although they are a bit of a faff to clean...
I look forward to seeing the car and catching up with you again soon. Are you still going to the Gold Cup at Oulton Park?
Martin

Re: 992 C2S Cab order 2019/08/22 06:21:02 (permalink)
I’m sure you will be really pleased with it - I love mine. I had the front end, sills and rear arches PPFd before I collected it and I’m so glad I did - it has already had a couple of small nicks on the rear arches that the PPF has done its job and protected and I’ve now had it booked in to PPF the entire car - it’s something I’d recommend. Not cheap but if you’re as precious about stone chips as I am it pays dividends in reducing stress. The guys doing my PPF are also putting an  extra Layer of PPF over the rear arches to mirror the stone guard templates that Porsche put on the 992 from the factory as this will be one of the most most exposed areas . I can then just have these small areas of PPF pealed off when required and replaced at minimal cost with the main PPF staying on the car underneath  adding extra protection. I’m also having my Satin Wheels ceramic coated.
