My 992 has had to be returned to Porsche Centre

I am afraid on my new 992 which is only a few days old with less than a hundred miles on the clock has developed a starting problem, with the error "engine fail to start" error, once car has started occasionally goes to power reduction mode.

The fault has been diagnosed as an engine fly wheel sensor.

The car is back at the centre waiting for the spare sensor.

I have been informed the part number for the sensor has been changed and a bulletin notice served from Porsche to this effect. I am beginning to wonder if there was a problem with the original part and thats why Porsche have changed it.

I look at it, with a. new model there is bound to be teething problems, it will be intetresting to find with time if there has been other 992 experienced the same problem.

I have been told the part will arrive on Monday, so now 992 less for a few days, with a borrowed Macan.??

That's a real bummer, Huw. So sorry to hear that. Just one of the joys of being the first in with a new model, I suppose. [&:]
Still sounds like a relatively easy fix though, so let's hope you'll soon be out and about and enjoying the new car again very soon. [:)]
Regards,

Clive

Sorry to hear that Huw.
My son took delivery on Friday but had to go away to work on the Saturday, so he left the car with me.
I can honestly say, what a machine. The interior is lovely, very well equipped and extremely comfortable.
The only down side being that you cannot see all the instrument cluster due to the steering wheel, but again all relevant information is there on the rev counter.
The exterior just keeps on growing on me, I can't take my eyes off it, gorgeous.
Unfortunately he is due back tomorrow so I have made sure I have filled it up for him, I seem to have got through a full tank of fuel. [:D]
Hopefully Huw yours will be back on the road quickly and you can enjoy what I have been truly smitten with.
I just have to look forward to when he next buggars off to work.

I am glad to say, the part has arrived from Germany and has been fitted, the car is now going like a dream. happy chappie.

Great news Huw.
I am quite happy as well, my son has gone away for 10 days and I have the key!!
Enjoy.

Good news Hugh. Pity it didn't bring my car with it...
no news yet Peter, I am sure the additional delay is due to the protective film you are having.

I got my 992 C4S on the 10th April, a month later it went back to the centre for a dynamic engine mount problem and the glove box didn't function correctly. It was there 4 weeks and when I picked it up again, none of the Porsche Connect features worked! It's now been back in and they think they need to replace the central computer....

I had a problem with my 'Porsche Connect' too.

Went in to collect a 992 C2S 1 month old demonstrator with 350 miles on the clock at 16:00. During the hand over, signed over my 718S to the dealer via the online DVLA site, sat in the car to perform the 'Porsche Connect - Security Package Activation' and it wouldn't 'activate' with my 'pairing code', all other Porsche Connect services were in my name, but the tracker service just wouldn't activate.

The dealership called Porsche Connect, after an hour they apologised and handed me over their 992 C4S demonstrator!... Which I had for a whole week! Turns out the 'Porsche Connect' service is now managed inhouse by Porsche vs previously being out sources to Vodafone/Cobra Tracking and a lot of teehting troubles are being had!

The dealer was being instructed to perform numerous steps in an attempt to reset the onboard computer, including removing the passenger seat and disconnecting some computer module for 30 minutes before reactivating it on the dealers computer. That failed, next option replace the module with a new one!

The dealership ended up having the same issue with five other unlucky 'new owners' that week!

Fingers crossed these things are ironed out soon!

On the plus side having the 992 C4S demonstrator unrestricted for 7 days, then getting in my own 992 C2S, it really highlighted the difference between the two! I'm very happy with the C2S and won't have that niggling "should I have gone with the C4S?".

My car has been in to Porsche for the new software update and also the fitting of the new cup holder.

I am not sure what the software update was for, but I still have the issues with the PCM with the update of the trip data from the car to the Porsche connect app and the my Porsche web site. Also the issue of sending destinations from your app to the car is a hit and a miss, sometimes works and doesn't. I have had a ticket open with Porsche connect team for 4 weeks now but no result yet, although I have contacted them various times.

I think the software update has caused my problems too.

Regarding the cup holder, were you forced to choose between the cup holder or the storage compartment tray? Sheffield insisted I couldn’t have both even though the handbook refers to both items and says to use them for the obvious different purposes. The handbook refers to the items as ‘supplied’ not optional.

I complained until they gave in!

No it came with both options, the tray and the cupholder. I have the cupholder presently in the glove box and will use when needed.

Since the software update, I have had PADM error on the PCM, which is Porsche dynamic engine mounts error.

I understood the software update was related to the tracker card,

I got the PADM error before the update. It definitely was an engine mount problem as I could feel an odd vibration. They did the update while it was in for the engine mount. I’ve lost all Connected features, not just tracker... picking car up tomorrow and awaiting news when the new PCM module is available.

Fingers cross, they solved your problems. keep the forum posted for other 992 owners.

I had the software update done yesterday.

My software update was to resolve the issues with the PVTS fobs - initially only one worked and the update has resolved this issue.

i also got the new cup holder / coin tray.

Mine's in for the same, via a flat rear tire courtesy of a screw. Took Porsche West London a week to source a rear tire, apparently £330 for the replacement.

My lad took his in for the recall this morning to Solihull. Again they gave him a choice between trinket tray and cupholder. He kicked off and held his ground and in the end they gave him both.

Our local Porsche Centre recently collected our car for the software update and cupholder recall, when it came back the cupholder was in the centre console and the storage tray was in the glovebox.

Whilst I am still not keen on the look and appearance of the cupholder, it is ideal for holding a bottle of water on a long journey, although I personally still prefer the design of the cupholders in the 991.
