Good day to everyone

I have a problem with my 05 cayenne s 3.2 tiptronic which hopefully someone might shed some light on.

At 40mph there is a vibration under the car it is most felt under the drivers seat I have attempted to drive through but it is still present at the same frequency
I have had a quick look at the rear prop shaft and there does not appear to be any movement (there is no knocking as you drive). any suggestions please

best regards

Nicholas

How close did you check the carden shalf bearing in the middle as its common to fail. Mind did the other week

Hi
I have just come from under the car the centre bearing support looks ok no cracks and no movement of the shaft (the support plate was still bolted in place) all of the diff mountings look ok as well

VICTORY I have solved the vibration!!

Having taken the bull by the horns I removed the old prop shaft, the centre support bearing was in good condition (in fact it looked as if it had been replaced) I fitted a new prop shaft and the vibration has gone, after closer examination of the old shaft if you hold it vertical and spin the support bearing there is a distinct wobble this is the only thing I can find with the old shaft.

I would take a guess that the shaft was removed to replace the bearing then and they did not take note where the position of it was, so was put back ‘unbalanced’ or out of balance.
They should have marked the position before removing.

Have you had the car for a while and the vibration only just started recently?

That was the conclusion I came to after removing the shaft particularly after seeing that the cover behind the support bearing was held on with a cable tie.

We have only had the car a week as it replaced our Range Rover that my wife found a bit to big to drive I must admit that we purchased the car at a VERY good (low) price with the vibration on, but as it changed gear smooth and there was no noises from the differentials or transfer box I felt it was worth the risk (it has a full Porsche service history unto last year)

only problem now is wife will never let me get my hands on it!

Glad you got it fixed, their great vehicles when running smoothly, answer to your new problem find a cheap turbo!
