durametric locally?

Good evening, would anyone have a durametric locally I could use / have used on my car!

I would like to test the cooling fans and I believe this can be done directly from the durametric. When i turn on the AC, both fans kick in but when the engine gets hot, I am not convinced they do..... using my generic OBD reader, the coolant (after sitting idling after a hard run for 5 mins) got to 105degC but no fans came on - although I dont think the gauge showed as high a temperature as this

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Can't say I know of anybody with the right equipment - perhaps there is somebody in R1 who have a bigger membership.

Ecosse Automotive might be able to help - they are part of the club too.

Failing that the OPC might lend it to you :)

Cheers,

Thanks for the replies guys, it is a 2002 996. Haven't done much on her for a few weeks as she is away for a clutch, IMS, RMS and cruise fitted! I am hoping the garage has time to check the fan operation before I collect on Saturday. I have proven the high speed fans definitely kick in when the coolant gets hot or if the air con is on so I suspect the low speed fan relays or resistor are knackered.

Thanks for the reply

I have managed to fix my fans by replacing the resistors with RS components ones (much cheapness but very effective) and managed to use a foxwell unit to test them properly.

However if you had a durametric I would love to see if it will trigger the abs unit to bleed it properly when I change my discs and pads in the spring! The pedal is a little soft but not sure if this is just due to the old discs and pads (i have bled it using a pressure bleeder etc).
