718 Safety Recall in USA

Strange that this was never an issue with the 981 where I would imagine the configuration is similar.

Having collected my 718 GTS this week I thought this potential recall was of interest. My car came off the production line on 13 February 19.

I have asked Porsche Reading for an view on frontal collision protection, and is this something already sorted for EU cars, or will the recall be further down the line.

The recall relates to a UN requirement (I had no idea their remit stretched so far)

Regulation No. 94

UNIFORM PROVISIONS CONCERNING THE APPROVAL OF VEHICLES WITH REGARD TO THE PROTECTION OF THE OCCUPANTS IN THE EVENT OF A FRONTAL COLLISION

Adrian,

Crash testing is an on-going manufacturer activity and US procedures are I believe different from those in Europe, so the US recall may not be applicable to EU-spec cars and Porsche will be anxious to avoid unnecessary expense - and bad publicity.!

You may be right but they also have Tort Law in the USA

This was my feedback from Porsche Reading

“Have checked the chassis number and no recalls for the GTS. Not sure if there are difference between the UK and US spec but not something anyone here is aware of.”
