Esso Card!

I applied for one of these Esso Cards in the mistaken belief that it would be useful, perhaps my fault for not researching fuel costs first, but just visited our local Esso garage, we don’t have one in York but have to travel outside of York to get to it which is a bit of a pain, £1.49 Ltr!!
Even with the current March to April special deal of 5p off the pump price by using the card, it is not competitive.
Needless to say the card has gone through the shredder.

I agree to a certain extent mate

Esso prices for Superunleaded seem to be LOADS higher than normal unleaded.

95 ron was 121.9 per litre
97 ron was 136.9 per litre

15p/litre seems a rip off, when I can go across the road to Shell and put Vpower 99ron in for about 6p/litre over unleaded price.
And Shell has a higher RON rating.
Sainsburys is 4p/litre more than normal unleaded but I know a lot of people will say thats not comparing apples with apples.

Esso/BP/Shell are more widely regarded as the premium fuels with engine cleaners etc

PS I've used my card, but not much. Likely to have a scout about seeing if theres a competitive garage to make the 5p/litre March offer worth it

Agree too there, Tim

Given that I will always go for Shell if possible, an Esso card wouldn't see much use.

Ive applied for this card, as I also get Tesco points. Even though I keep being told one is on the way, Ive still not recd it and I’ve found the admin at the company issuing them to be far from efficient.

The Card came through very quickly for me but is sat unused in my wallet. Esso seems expensive 2/3 p Ltr more that Shell in Cheshire and if I use my shell points and Amex I get double bubble.

Mine came through very quickly. I was impressed with the lady who I dealt with my application and followed up to make sure everything was ok. One of the cheapest filling stations in the area is Esso. Happy to use Esso in my VW but my Porsche usually drinks Shell V-Power.

I applied online, but also did the from in person at the PCGB Xmas fair on 9th Dec. Still awaiting my card! :(

Mine came through really quickly. Fortunately for me I usually use Esso anyway as it is on my route home from work and is usually the cheapest in the area anyway. Most of the time I'm only using standard fuel (in my BMW or the Mrs's Jag) so the saving isn't huge) but it all helps.

Following feedback to Esso/Wes, received the following response, clearly a pre-prepared stock reply: -
We value your feedback and thank you for taking the time to respond.
We appreciate that at some stations the Esso Synergy fuel may be more expensive than other fuels however Esso’s Synergy Supreme+ Unleaded fuel has extra additives which can benefit all petrol cars, even older ones – making it Esso’s best ever protection for your engine.
The extra detergent that Esso add to its Synergy Supreme+ Diesel gives it a much higher cleaning power compared to Esso’s regular diesel and is designed to give you more power and fuel economy. Not only does it give you better performance, it’s also Esso’s best protection for your engine**
Don’t forget, we currently have our Spring Sale whereby we are offering you over double discount savings up until the end of May. This is the perfect opportunity to most of this limited time offer whilst collecting Tesco Clubcard points. You could be receiving up to 5p off every litre you fill up with!
If there is anything we can help with please contact us on 01270 531 992.

I applied for a card and it was a relatively painless process and the cards & PINs arrived earlier this week, within a week of the call from WEX. Like others I don't normally use ESSO but was prepared to give it a try. I haven't been looking out for prices and normally a Shell customer so interested to note the comments above. The Cayman normally gets VPower and the Shell app where you can pay at the pump usually a huge convenience factor even when when I'd stick something cheaper in the daily CooperS.

One disappointment is the somewhat lacklustre card design...whilst I didn't think the promoted design was that good (bit fussy for my tastes) getting a bog standard fuel card was a surprise, I expected it to be PCGB branded...have they run out or is it just me?

My card which I applied for soon after they were announced is Porsche Club branded and the image on the front is of two Porsches. A 356 and I think, a Cayman.

A few days ago I received a request from Wex/Esso to comment on my experience with card, which has been fine, however, I took the opportunity to comment on delays experienced by some members.
