New Screen Fitted, Sat Nav Problems!

I had a new screen fitted today, paid by insurance and it took them three tries to get the right screen so a lot of palaver! As I left I was checking everything was working and ok radio fine, auto wipers worked, sat nav took instructions but the maps didn't show, tried factory reset but no change, all other screen indications are operating for radio, phone, stereo, just no maps although I get the verbal instructions directing me.

When on the maps screen there are a series of lines in the top of the screen as if screens have been compressed to that area, try display changes and it shows the optional screens but when selected they are black with no map.

Any ideas?

I replaced the battery on my wife’s swift sport and had a similar problem with the sat nav in that. It was a standard garmin system and I thought **** what have I done.....after a couple of hours of driving, the maps appeared, no changes to settings etc, maybe just needed to find a full gps signal before it would display correctly.

Your problem may be the same if the battery has been disconnected. Worth telling the fitters that it’s not working and seeing if it rights itself in a similar way. If not, at least you made them aware and take it forward from there....

A late update on this but it may prove of use for someone, the next day I called the company involved and their bloke called at my place, I got the car out of the garage set the nav to take me to an address a few streets away and it was AOK! Drove round to the other address, set to my address and AOK again! The fitter was pleased as he thought they may have cut a wire!

Windscreen replacement on my 987S Gen II in the middle of September 2020. Carried out under COVID-19 restriction - specified by fitting company. Was not present during work. Needed to use Sat Nav 6 days ago. Position shown as 3 km from actual location. Contacted supplier and they will contact me. Agent did not seem surprised. Twitter friend in vehicle repair business told me that this is a frequent occurrence. Let’s see how it goes.

I had something similar after a new windscreen was fitted. The fitter failed to properly reconnect GPS sensor/aerial. Service Manager winked and said it was very expensive to fix and just reached at base of windscreen and reconnected it.

Thank you. I was concerned when I found it wasn’t working. A national network should do better. Insurance company preferred supplier. Not impressed.

Window fitter attended last week. 0.5hr accessing connections. After test drive he pronounced that it was working. Claimed he drove towards indicated position. Which is exactly what I had already done. Nice try Pinocchio.......
