Hi,
I have a headlight working problem
The only thing on the wiring on the switch that doesn't tie up to the Bentley book is the yellow wire from the stalk with a large white connector on which is connected onto No 56 on the switch White / Black stripe. Surely if is was going to fit there it would have had a standard female spade connector like the other connections from the stalk

As i already have a yellow wire with wit ha male white connector floating around doing nothing as well I think this is the cause of no live feed to the fuseboard on yellow.

Could anyone confirm the position of the 2 yellow wires with male & female connectors on please

Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan, You haven't said what happens if you take the yellow wire with the white connector off the switch.
Is there power on 56B with the ignition on when the light switch is on dip beam?
The yellow wire with white connector looks out of place to me, as you remark. It may be causing the problem if the other end is bridging No.56 to the main beam further down the wiring. Have you been able to trace this 'stray' yellow wire? Why the supply isn't getting to the factory yellow dip is possible another issue.
I'm no auto electrician but had experience of fitting an alarm to my Sierra back in the 80s. Back then the alarm operated the headlights when triggered, rather than the now common turn signals, so perhaps it is a remnant from an old alarm system that was hurriedly removed before you purchased the car.

Hi Alan
On the car in the workshop the two yellow wires with white covers join together
in a what looks like a loop. but my car is a 1986.

Charles.

I can concur with Charles, my '89 has yellow cables with white covers connected together, and I only have one wire connected where the black/white connection is, no spare connector for an additional wire. Steve
