Retrofit PSE to 987.1 best price?

Hi all. Bought a 987.1 S around 6 months ago and must say I love it. I’ve had the 111 point check and went for 2 year warranty. Have to say it’s been worth it. Been in twice for leaks under drivers carpet and OPC (South LONDON Porsche) have been great and spent a good 3-4 days in labour looking into it and finally replacing 3 or 4 seals till they found the cause.

That aside the existing exhaust is looking a tad corroded so was looking for an upgrade. I’ve been toying with the Carnewal, but as it’s under warranty I’m not sure. I’ve had quotes for the PSE retrofit and they all come in around £2800. I’ve seen quotes of £1800 on the forum. Anybody know where these were? Asked at south london, Stratford and Colchester thus far and all quoted roughly the same.

Save yourself a grand at least and fit the Carnewal.

I went the Carnewal route when I was considering PSE.
Bought direct from Gert @ Carnewal and had it shipped to the UK for my local specialist to fit.
£450 ish for the exhaust plus £200 for fitting.

Are you under warranty and any issues if so? Also the main reason I want to replace is corrosion. Whats the Carnewal turn up looking like condition wise? If it’s a similar age exhaust I’d expect it to have similar amounts of internal corrosion.

If you have the Porsche extended warranty you'll void the warranty if you have the Carnewal modification as only Porsche approved parts are allowable.

Having said that, the mods are internal so it would probably pass a cursory inspection by any Porsche Centre. Your risk if you choose this route.

Indeed, this is my worry. So back to the original post, where are these £1800 retrofit prices for the PSE retrofit coming from ive seen on the forum? £1000 is a pretty substantial Difference.

If I'm correct I seem to recall that was a "special" low price owing to the dealership having one available, maybe discounted to clear?

As you've found, I suspect that the price won't vary much from dealer to dealer, but you might strike it lucky. If you were a Club member you'd be elligible for a 10% parts discount and you could always find a Porsche independent to install the system and save a few quid on labour.

No I'm no longer under warranty.

Gert Carnewal will ask for the age and mileage of your car and return you a modified exhaust of a similar age and mileage.

Mines been on 18 months now and is ready for a quick clean up on the underside.
I know what you mean about corrosion eventually, particularly after spending money on it and still getting an 'old' exhaust back.

They are stainless steel though so at least should last much better than aluminised/mild steel.

Hatfield had one in stock which was fitted to my 981CS two weeks ago. Cost £1750.
Great shout on Hatfield. They've come in at just over £2k, which given they need to install the switch gear, vacuum lines and it's an old model is ok. £800 less than 3 other OPC's.

UPDATE

Hatfield quoted the 987.2 price by mistake, so it's actually the same as everywhere else... []
