WHICH WARRANTY TO CHOOSE?????

Hi all, well after all the problems i have had with the Macan i think that a extended warranty will be a good choice Porsche will cost around £1000.00 with the inital
checks, as i have NOT got the "N Rated Tyres" on OPC said i would need to change them. I will not be scrapping perfectly good tyres... The tyres are speed rated & suitable for the purpose.
So has anyone had dealings with warrantywise?? they seem to be a lot cheaper than Porsche & they have agreed that any work can be carried out at a OPC they also cover wear & Tear!! apart from brake pads tyres etc They have agreed to a £120.00 per hour labour rate to.
Thanks hopefully someone will be ableto help with a descent warranty company that does not try its best to wriggle out of a claim....

I wouldn't touch ********wise with a barge pole I'm sorry to say. I had a Platinum (highest level) cover on my Boxster as I bought it from an Indy and couldn't put a Porsche Warranty on it until after three months ownership.
They have an awkward claim procedure, the dealer has to submit a quote with full details of the problem, then wait until they come back with yes or no before commencing work (unless you assure the dealer you will pay if ********wise won't). Plus there's still lots of things they don't cover - I had an issue with my PSE - one of the flaps had seized up meaning one side of the exhaust had to be replaced, under a Porsche warranty this would be covered but not with ********wise as in the small print they don't cover any part of the exhaust or indeed any problem caused by corrosion. Plus they have a difficult to prove clause where any existing problem (when the policy begins) isn't covered - and as there is no inspection to check the car beforehand they will use this excuse saying the problem would have been there for some time.
There are many other things too that they don't cover, the Porsch one is very comprehensive almost the same as a new car warranty and well worth the money IMO.

Well, my experience with ********wise is at the other end of the spectrum; however, this was 8 years ago and policies change over time. We put a ********wise policy onto my wife's Polo and the car developed an exhaust gas monitoring problem which dealt with entirely (both repair work and claim) by the VW garage without any input from me. Notwithstanding my experience with ********wise, I have now put an extended Skoda warranty on her Yeti.

From personal experience, I would stay with the Porsche warranty policies

Only heard good things about OPC warranties and certainly seem to be less quibble. Have you thought about 2 year OPC cover, and had a price? It may be more (obviously), but when you halve it, it normally works out less per year. Try that and then see if two years combined works out less than 2 x 1 year with warrantywise.

Either borrow some wheels and 'N' rated tyres for the 111 point inspection or purchase some 'N' rated winter tyres as spares. There are several sets of cheap wheels and winter tyres on Ebay too.

Wheel diameter is not a problem since you simply adjust the wheel settings via your PCM. You just need to be a little more resourceful! [;)]

Mark,

Like all warranties the devil is in the exclusions. I've not had the Porsche extended warranty for quite a few years now but I seem to recall that the text refering to what was not covered far outweighed that which was covered..!

The Porsche warranty is good because it's tailored to Porsche, but do your homework before selecting a provider.

Thanks think ill get some tyres from ebay & go with Porsche..

The exclusions of a PEW relate mainly to wear and tear, non OEM parts and not sticking to the service requirements etc., i.e what is covered far outweighs what isn't covered as long as you follow the rules! The key elements for me are that a) the size of any claim is unlimited and b) no excess. I just put in for a quote with a well known 3rd party and it came out at £2256 for 2 years for the turbo which, to be fair, covered claims up to the value of the car and no excess. However, because of the age of the car air con items and air bags are extra and adding those in brought it up to £2376.

The renewal of my Porsche Extended warranty last March was £2115 including Porsche Assist.

Just extended my warranty for 2 years was about £1520 with out breakdwon cover. The non rated front tyres was pointed out to me on the 111 check but was told no problem just replace then with n rated when worn out.

Thats interesting as my opc said it would fail the 111 check what opc do you use?

********wise do NOT cover hoses or seals and have so many 'get out clauses' but to be fair, most used car warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. I speak from experience having spent all my working life in after sales, you pays your money...................!!

I use Swindon opc great service and not rip off prices like most of the others.
Thats strange cos i phoned OPC Swindon today, spoke to service regarding the warranty .told them that someone had an extended warranty with two none rated tyres & they said change them when wore out!!!no problem. She said to me No as it would have failed the 111 point check. none N rated tyres will fail & no warranty will be issued...?? So am i missing something!!
