3.2 Supersport Main Beam Problem - Help

Hi Everyone,
I have recently purchased a 1986 3.2 Supersport.
When I put the headlights on the main beam comes on as well, if i swap to just sidelights the main beam goes off.
I have fitted a brand new oem stalk (not cheap) and the fault is exactly the same.
I think it may be the actual switch but as these are £300.00 I thought I should check the wiring from the stalk into the switch as it may be possible as it may have been tatted with ..?
I have been told by a local Porsche Centre it could be just 2 wires the wrong way around sending the incorrect feed to the stalk, however they don't have anyone to do the work and would have to get a auto electrician in.
Could anyone confirm which wires from the stalk wiring go to which terminal, as I can then check it out before I go to buying a new switch and are there any checks I could do
I am also whist on going to fit a inline fuse to the clocks and the pelican parts relay kit.
Cheers
Alan
Any advice who be a great help as Im stuck at the moment

Alan.
Try disconnecing the dim dip relay you will
find it under the passenger front foot floor board.
leave it un plugged if it had one fitted.

Hi,

Im in Wolverhampton.
I did join Impact Bumpers today and posted the same massage , so fingers crossed thanks.
I will look at the relay kit as well as yes it will help a lot more.

Thanks
alan

My main beam came on all the time, because the metal 'beam' inside the switch had bent over the years. Bit of straightening and MOT passed.

Actually, looking at the picture, I think it was because high beam would not work so probably not the same.
