Dealing with insurance people!

Afternoon all, happy new year!

After a bit of advice.

I‘ve had an accident, 3rd party hit me.

I’m being dictated too by my insurance as to where the car goes for assessment, even If the car goes there and works are quoted, am I then stuck with their assessment/costs etc?

any advice, greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Elliot.

You can have it repaired at any bodyshop as far as I know - there may be a penalty of no loan car or extra excess though, but you do have the right to choose where it's repaired. If it wasn't your fault you can get the legal side (DAS usually) to claim your uninsured losses such as excess and hire car etc. But you may get a loan car from the bodyshop anyway.

Elliot,

You're perfectly entitled to have the car repaired at a location of your choice. However, you may not be entitled to provision of a courtesy car (or other benefits?) by your insurer - you'll have to look at their T&Cs.

Good luck.!

Jeff

I agree with Gorsh. Under similar circumstances I was being pushed towards the local repairer, who could not do the work for three weeks anyway! When I stuck out for an approved Porsche repairer it was agreed that, as my insurer was not paying, l could go where I wanted and any costs not covered would have to be claimed as legal/out of pocket expenses. End result, Porsche repair and no outstanding costs.

Thanks all for the replies.

They actually came back with a company in Crawley called SL restorations.

I spoke to Tom at the aforementioned and he has said that mechanically the car would only go to a Porsche centre via them and that they are approved by Porsche Cars Great Britain for body work they do.

Panic attack is receeding, I’ll update as and when.

Thanks again.

A bit late as you seem to have it sorted but as an alternative & depending on where you live, Premier Panels' in Farnham Surrey are a Porsche Approved repairer & are where all the cars from Porsche Guildford, Reading & Brooklands go. I know a couple of friends that have had their cars repaired there & highly recommend them.
