I'm not totally sure what the vac line to the throttle body does, or should I say I can't remember. I don't think it has anything to do with the carbon canister. If I manage to remember tomorrow, I'll ask my son, he may be able to give an answer. You say that your car doesn't have the canister, did you remove it? I thought they all had this system. Also if you don't have it, where has the fuel vent hose that comes from the tank gone too...it's a metal pipe fixed to the bulkhead, usually this would have a flexible hose that goes to the vac diaphragm system sitting on top of the passenger inner wing which then goes through the wing to the cannister. I run a hose from that pipe down the driver's wing under the windscreen washer bottle and fitted a filter on the end, put it as low as possible to stop the smell of fuel inside the cab

My 1991 has the carbon canister[8|]
