Cayman & Chips anyone? Swanage, Sun 6th Jan 2019.

I’m going to give my Cayman some post-Christmas exercise on Sunday 6th January 2019 by visiting Swanage for fish & chips, Cayman Register members are welcome to join me.

Meet me in the car park of The Worlds End, Almer (https://goo.gl/maps/UHwjmFyCFuz) from 10:30, leaving at 11:15 to drive to the Broad Road car park in Swanage (https://goo.gl/maps/SB8nKDscw222 ). On arrival at the car park we'll have the opportunity to have a chat and photograph our cars, or even the views, before we amble in to town where there are a number of fish & chip shops and cafes many of which have indoor seating areas.
Make your way home when ready.

If anyone knows the area well and would like to lead us along a scenic route from Almer to Swanage please let me know, otherwise I'll be using the satnav to guide me directly to the Broad Road car park, you can follow me if you wish.

It’s not necessary for you to post your interest here as there is no booking required. Just be sure to check here the day before in case I have to cancel due to poor weather.

A few points to consider:
The Worlds End inn will be closed so there will be no access to the bar or toilets.
The Broad Road car park is Pay and Display. Cost should be £1 for up to 24 hours.
The Swanage Town Council website says that public toilets in Swanage are free but when I was last there a couple of years ago they were "Pay As You Go” ;-)

As mentioned by Kevan in his latest Porsche Post Cayman Register report I'm still planning to go ahead with this meeting. Although there's no necessity for you to tell me whether you will be attending it would be helpful to me if you could let me know if you're considering coming along.

Hi Andrew, normally it would be case of"with bells on" but there's a do at Bicester Heritage on the same day that I'm off to....doubt you and fellow Caymanites would be there still. Definitely on for anything else on in the Devon/Dorset/Hampshire region

Sat Nav route as good as any:

From Worlds End take B3075 to Sandford crossing over A35 (short dogleg left/right)

At Sandford turn right onto A351 to Warham, Corfe Castle and Swanage

Enjoy!

Thanks Geoff, that’s the route I had in mind and as I recall from previous visits isn’t there often a speed camera just outside Corfe?

Slightly different topic (but relevant audience); who's doing Llandudno/Anglesey/The Triangle in Wales circa 19th May 2019?

Hi Craig, It might be worth asking your question in a new thread, I doubt many people will see it in this one.

Andrew.

The forecast weather for Sunday 6th January is cloudy with only 10% chance of rain.

Are any Cayman owners tempted to join me for this meeting?

Hi Andrew,

lesley & I are coming on Sunday. I think I replied on the Facebook web site.

Not sure if you are aware of this but I have just been looking at the route from the Worlds End pub to Swanage. Just after Stoborough Green on the A351, I can see major road works with traffic jams. Will an alternative route will be taken on Sunday?

Hello Adrian, and anyone else attending. Thank you for alerting me to the possible delays on the A351. I drove the route last week without seeing any roadworks, I think they must have been cleared away for the Christmas period.

I think I'll see how many people turn up at The Worlds End and make a decision on where to go and how to get there from the following:

[ul][*]Stick to the original route and hope the delays aren't too bad.[*]Follow a more scenic route to Swanage and hope the roads aren't too narrow https://goo.gl/maps/rjiLFJn3XsR2[*]Drive to the Bovington tank museum and use the cafe there BH20 6JG[*]Drive to West Lulworth and go to Finlays Cafe or the Boat Shed cafe (I've no idea what the parking is like). BH20 5RQ[*]Drive to Preston near Weymouth and use the Beachside Cafe. DT3 6PW[*]Depart The Worlds End at 11:15 and go our separate ways....[/ul]

Hi Andrew, Just to let you know that the Worlds End pub opens at 11:30 on Sunday according to their web site. Look forward to catching up with everyone. Cheers Adrian

That’s right, I spoke to them about using their car park, they said that they get very busy with Sunday lunches so I said we’d leave the car park by 11:15 so as not to get in their way. If there’s only a handful of us then there may be the option to stay at The Worlds End for lunch?

Hello All

We are planning to come along. Should be at the World's End in time, otherwise we will motor down to Swanage directly. Mine is a blue Cayman 987.2.

Hello Michael, I’m pleased you’re joining us, sounds like our cars are twins!

If you go straight to Swanage be sure to head for the Broad Road car park on the hill near the pier.

Andrew.

This route should take you from The Worlds End to Swanage avoiding the A351 roadworks https://goo.gl/maps/rjiLFJn3XsR2
