Information on running costs of a Porsche Cayenne 2014 Platinum Edition

Hi all,

I am seriously considering purchasing a Porsche Cayenne 2014 3L Platinum Edition Diesel but I have no idea what to expect in terms of general everyday type running costs. This is not normally a car I would have considered but after seeing one on a garage forecourt today I was really impressed by what I saw. I was originally viewing a different car but ended up test driving the Porsche due to the price and spec.

Can anyone please give me any information on this, for example, how much would it cost to fill up the fuel tank, is tax still around £300 a year, mpg commuting to and from work (currently 10 miles each way), cost of replacing parts etc;

Because this car is out of my usual comfort zone any background info on what to expect on owning one would be great. I don’t want to buy it and be unexpectedly stung on maintaining it!! I am nervous as this is top end of my budget.

Thanks in advance ??

Hi
I have a 2013 Cayenne Diesel from new. I have covered 101K miles. Changed Brakepads at 75k miles . I get it serviced every 20k miles at OPC costs about £350 after 2years and then after 4 years about £580.
This is the most economical SUV there is , I get about 35/42 mpg and worst about 29 mpg around town. Tyres between 12/22k miles and can be costly , at present I'm running Michelen Latitude Sports 295/35 R21 107Y and have done 21k miles on them. It all depends on your style of driving with regards to mpg and tyre wear.
I have had Range Rovers, BMW X5, Toyota Land Cruisers and Mitisbushi Shoguns but this is in a different league.
Servicing costs are down to Oil and Filter, Fuel Filter and Air Filters beyond that really nothing else in My case. I also change the Oil and Filter at 10k miles myself and costs me about £80 for oil and filter.
So won't be sorry buy it [:D]

Great choice but depending where the car is for sale I would ask for an independent check on the mechanicals and especially the electricals. These are generally reliable as Hugh said, but a thorough check now will pay dividends.

Thanks for the Feedback. I am currently seriously looking at one from a dealer in Suffolk " Roy Humphrey’s prestige cars”. The car is the facelift 2014 diesel 3.0 v6 with 31k on the clock. (Platinum edition) it all sounds very good at the moment and it comes with a 12 month warranty etc. It also has a full dealer service histor, so hopefully it is sound. Is there anything else I should be worried about with a car like this. Thanks again, Simon.

I have a 3.6 Petrol bought new Does 30'MPG .
I self service you might consider one in view of the anti diesel lobby now.?

Nice low miles for a '14 car, hardly run in [:D] There's no particular problems with this model version that I'm aware of, just do your due diligence.

Just remove the badges off the front wings and no one will know...

If it has a full main dealer history then hopefully the bills are with the car in which case when serviced they do an inspection which should identify any issues. If not there you can ring the main dealer and ask for the information it's best to tell them you are the new owner.
They are very robust vehicles and with a MD history it's very likely to be in vgc. Besides the MD network you have you local Porsche specialist who can save you money on any repairs.

Hi all, I picked up my Cayenne over the weekend and all is great. It’s a 2014 platinum edition "face lift” but I can’t for some reason get the phone calls to come via the in car speakers. I can do all the other features yet the actual call is via the phone speaker and not connected to the car. I am stumped as to what the issue maybe. its connected via Bluetooth and I use the USB for music etc which works just fine. Any assistance would be greatly welcome.

Hi there. Congrats on the new car!

i would hazard a guess that there are two possible scenarios:
1 - with an iPhone in my experience if you answer a phone on the handset, the call comes through the handset and not the car. You then need to press the button on the phone to change the source. The solution would be to answer instead using the pcm or steering wheel buttons.
2 - the second possibility is that the telephone module is not fitted. It would have been an expensive option in 2014. Indeed IIRC there were two different available options back then, a phone module and a telephone module - only one of which allowed Bluetooth the other was just to use the SIM card slot on the front of the pcm.

When your phone is connected via Bluetooth and playing music - if you make or receive a call is that displayed on the pcm screen?

not sure how to diagnose or resolve this any further without a workshop visit.

Thanks for the reply. When someone calls it displays on the main screen and I have all my contacts etc there also and can answer from the unit or answer button on the wheel. The car also has the SIM card slot to the front. It odd as I can everything except the call doesn’t go via the large speaker on the dash and only via the phones speaker. Confused dot com. Other than that the car is epic and so nice to be in and drive.

Hi
Over the years I've seen quite a few apple pcm issues on the forums. Not an apple user so there not registered in my brain. But if you type in Porsche PCM 3 apple issies plenty of people will have had them and hopefully got answers. It's probably a settings issue in one or other of them.

Hi all, just wondering if you can buy the parcel shelf clips for the retractable section on the parcel shelf as one of mine has broke. It’s the clip on the passenger seat side for the section that move when the seats are reclining. Have looked on various sites and it only give the option for a full parcel shelf. Any suggestions would be great thanks, Simon.
