Replacing PCM with new head unit

Hi All, I'm fed up with the rubbish navigation on my PCM (997 GTS 2012) and looking at replacing it with a new dual DIN unit with navigation, DAB, etc. Any recommendation for units?

Thanks

Martin

My mate had the latest Pioneer put in his 997 turbo this summer. he's very happy with it. was about £1500 fitted.

Thanks - any chance of the model number? Any issues with it, or was it all good?

This one. No issues to speal of. Sometimes I hear the phone is slow to connect but it seems my pal has this with his phone in many cars... maybe the phone's issue.

I suggest you keep the original PCM unit for when you sell the car, some future owners will be interested in originality.

I would tend to agree, especially if fitting it will take away the option of obtaining OPC warranty.

I find in my 2010 car that I use my phone on google maps now for navigation

The car is covered by extended Porsche warranty - I was assuming just the new head unit would not be covered

You are right BUT you will not be able to renew the warranty without the original fitted.

And the wording in the Warranty is not only the component won’t be covered but also any issues they feel are caused by the component. So you open up the opportunity for them to query electrical faults etc as they could say the non Porsche installation is causing issues.
