Lots coming up at Silverston Auctions

Interesting on cars buyers premium plus 15% and VAT at 20%, spares and collectable items buyers premium plus 24% and VAT at 20%. Watch out may not be the bargain you thought[8|]

968 Sport estimate is about right until you factor in buyers premium etc, then it's way OTT. As for CS estimates, even without those additions the estimates are what you'd pay at a dealer, complete with warranty, not at auction!

Had an interesting chat with an Indy yesterday about used car sales, warranties and what is expected when good (including used cars on eBay etc) are subject to with regards to repairs etc after sale. I wonder if people buying are assuming some kind of extended warranty etc, or, safe in the knowledge that these cars may well have in 99% of cases, been very well looked after? Who knows. Either way, as has been pointed out, if these fetch their estimated value, then you add the fees on, they are no good prices for anything here.
Might go along though, just to see who is gonna pay what for what! :)

For me, the elevated prices being asked for CS's is a constant source of amusement, as the CS came out as a cheap alternative at a time when 968's were not selling well - the OTR price of my tip coupe in April 1994 was just over £40K, base price of a CS was £25k - no doubt with tax etc added so don't know the OTR cost!! Then Porsche GB decided that the CS was a little too hard core for the UK market so ordered a number of CS's with what is called the Comfort Pack - where lots of the coupe bits were added back - like comfort cloth seats, electric boot release and windows, rear seats etc., even though a "CS" could be ordered with all of these, as well as sunroof, radio, even aircon!! The "true" lightweight CS is a rare beast indeed, and don't even think about finding a pair of the Recaro hard shell CS seats, rocking horse poo is common and cheap in comparison!!

How many times have I said - buy a decent coupe, buy and fit the lowered M030 suspension and brakes, maybe the LSD, even the Recaros (expect £3000 for 2!) and still save thousands of pounds compared to the elevated price being asked for a car whose VIN says CS!

Agreed. Only time I really really missed the M220 LSD option being when on the twisty parts when trackday'ing.
