Done a couple of elastic and needlework repairs last week to sort the seating of the beaded edge behind the trim. Also a length of cord and a spring re-acquainted! But where does this one circled go?

Have you tried boxa.net? Some threads there on repairing hoods and some very helpful guys.

Yep Just done mine with ÂŁ3 or elastic from Amazon...took a massive 20 mins to do both sides!

Quick before and after photo.

I just watched this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=5ZN8ffDBZqc and followed what the chap said..I went the staple route on the big tab end....but because the elastic i got had button hole slits in it I just undid the screw on the window side of the elastic end. :)

This is the elastic I got off Amazon, https://www.amazon.co.uk/.../ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03...

Yup easy job I actually staipled the new Elastic and did not remove the old elastic JUst make sure you have a bit of tension and don't over do it Stiched the second one Need to put the hood in service mode

Arh hah! Noticed my 987 roof not sitting properly the other day.

Nice share, better find some elastic...
You have the link to the elastic I used from Amazon...in-fact its more than enough I have left over!

2004 986 and I have this problem. Read your post and was inspired to sort it. Couldn't find tags or floppy 'lacky anywhere but did reattach small velcro tag to tubular frame on one side and noticed same on the other side that had torn out of the beading (will stitch n glue later). The reattached side now fits into the frame on hood-up. I sometimes wonder if I have the same Boxster as everyone else!?

Incidentally: neither can I find the 'hook' which holds the back section of the hood up in service mode; the hood does have the strap with an elastic loop.

Well that kinda figures Pat as the 986 has a different hood to the 987 so the tension parts are likely to be different too

Mine is a late 20005 (06 model) 987.1

Replaced the elastic in mine which has resolved the issue with the hood siting outside of the channel on the outside, however having issues with a similar problem on the inside with the hood lining. Any ideas??

Cheers

Found my 987.2 that I have just got is suffering with this issue. Hoping the dealer will fix it soon. Great post to help others well done

Hi, just got exactly the same issue, where that strap goes? have you solved it?, please if you can share it, I much appreciated. Cheers!
