Cayman GT4, four or six

Has anyone else seen the You Tube video of Dumas testing the latest Cayman GT4 in preparation for the WRC Rally Germany? Sounds more flat 4 than flat 6 to me ?????

Donald,

If it's the clip I've just viewed then that's the original GT4 not the upcoming version.

A friend and I ran some frequency analysis on clips of the Gen2 car a while ago - definitely a n/a six.

Jeff,

I'm thinking, the "spy" video clips of 982/718 Porsche GT4 test mules could be of cars testing both the flat-4 turbo and the flat-6 n/a engines. This would be a useful comparative exercise for Porsche to conduct.

It may be that some of the clips showing a 982 GT4 on track are of the flat-6, and other clips may be with the flat-4t unit testing a revised exhaust system.

I have an open mind on this.

Anything's possible Brian bearing in mind the impact of WLTP on the n/a engine in particular.

If they have sufficient resource, Porsche could be hedging their bets.

I'm booked in for a Porsche factory tour on September 27 as part of my Germany trip. I shall certainly be asking questions on the likely engine choice for the anticipated new GT4 and Spyder.

I don't expect to get a definitive answer, but I'll be reading into the way my questions are responded to for any wry smiles, hints, nods, or winks.........

I shall be reporting back with any information received.

Brian
