This full day event on Sunday 12th August gives you the chance to drive your pride and joy on a round trip of about 125 miles, and to spend a whole afternoon at one of the country's most celebrated gardens.

if you would like to be involved, please let me know via this thread, and also send me an email (mark.grimwood1@btinternet.com) to which I can reply with more detailed information as we approach the date.

Highlights:
  • Follow a suggested 75 mile route, mostly on rolling B roads via lovely Cotswold towns and villages;
  • Coffee stop to watch the arrival and departure of two steam trains;
  • Lunch and spend the afternoon at Hidcote, a grade 1 listed National Trust 10.5 acre garden;
  • Enjoy retail therapy at the on-site nursery and gift shop;
  • 50 mile return journey to your own schedule.
Principal arrangements:
  • Depart 9.45am from Silverstone Circuit Cafe (postcode NN12 8TL) (note: the cafe will not be open);
  • Optional Super Sausage Cafe (NN12 7QD) breakfast from 8.30am;
  • Late starters can join 10 miles further south (Croughton A43/B4031 - (NN13 5RD)) at 9.55am;
  • Suggested route takes in Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold, arriving around 11.20 at Toddington Station (GL54 5DT) on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway;
  • Coffee available to purchase whilst awaiting the 11.50 northbound and 12.00 southbound steam-hauled trains;
  • Depart via Broadway and Chipping Campden, to arrive 30 minutes later at Hidcote (non-reserved grass parking);

I am pleased to report that 14 cars have now booked... the National Trust is expecting up to 20 vehicles, so there are a few spaces left....

Happy motoring!

Dave??

Hi, Can I put my name down please - I take it we will be at Hidcote by 1pm? I'll come to super sausage :)

Hi Richard & Ali,
Of course you can join at Toddington...we will leave there shortly after the departure of the 12 noon train. I look forward to seeing you there.

Hi Eddie & Marilyn. I am delighted you can make it. On the Croughton side of the roundabout, almost immediately there is a very small piece of hard standing. Please join as those that follow my suggested route go pass you, because there is no space for others to stop. This also means that you will miss us if you are not there by 9.55! I look forward to catching up with you at Toddington Station.
Thanks.
Mark

Hi Chris,
I am very pleased that you can make it on the 12th.... we will be leaving Toddington Station just after 12 noon, and its only around 30mins driving time to Hidcote.
I look forward to seeing you on the day.
Regards.
Mark
