Hi all
Apologies for not posting much as im an avid user of other forums and pop in and out of here.
Just wanted to tell you about my Macan Diesel S, that some of you might like to know or can share similar stories, symtoms or advice.
I Bought my 2015 Diesel S in October 2016 with 9k on the clock, approved used. Now over 16k On the clock.
This is my car of choice for day to day use but its light use and you can also take into account the thousands of miles I’ve put on the wife’s Company Audi as that’s the shopping and general use car and my other car is for fun days out.
Anyway, I’d noticed the f/o/style had worn significantly more than the n/s so I had a full tracking and 2 new front tyres fitted Early this year During which a general check over resulted in a small gearbox oil leak. This was investigated and a month later in June this year I had a brand new gearbox fitted!!!
it was delivered back to my home as i was away on business and a few days later I drove it for the first time and 10 miles in to the drive I had an advisory on the dash that the power steering had failed! No shyate as it was bloody hard to steer. Stopped at a shell garage, I filled up, started engine, worked fine!!
Next day, I went to Stratford upon Avon, again 10 miles in, power steering failure! This time no ignition reset would rectify it. I managed to reach my destination where the car stood for a couple of hours. After which the fault cleared. I took the motorway home, just in case and 10 miles in, it failed again. Coaxed it home, OPC informed, Porsche assist called and Macan recovered. Luckily or not the OPC saw the fault in all its glory when they tried to get it off the back of the recovery truck. That was a couple if weeks ago.
After a few days they called to say it’s a mechanical failure and it needs a complete new steering system/rack whatever these things are controlled by these days!!!
As it was recovered i was offered a courtesy car but being honest and conscientious I told them I would be away for 8 days and it would just be sat on the drive but i would need one on my return, "no problem” they said.
Fast forward to a day before my return date ive asked for a courtesy car as mine is not been repaired and they are now umming and arrring’ about it and trying to see if they can have my Macan back to me by the time im back.
Anyway. Given the 2 big failures so far on a 3 year old 16k car, i‘m getting that Friday build feeling
I still love the Macan.... but how many more failures before i can i justify its a bad one.
