Security Reccomendations

With the increasing value and poor/non-existant security in my car combined news of thefts... I am suddenly feeling very vulnerable actually leaving it anywhere... Does anyone have experience with non-intrusive alarms/trackers etc in the North West?

On the Panamera that I owned until very recently I had a Vodafone Category 5 Automotive Vehicle Tracking System, fitted since new. I found the service from Vodafone very good, i.e. on those rare occasions when I left home and forgot to take the Driver's Card with me the call centre would call me very quickly to check that everything was in good order. The system even worked if the car and I were on a ferry crossing and, even though I had the Driver's Card in my possession, the rocking & rolling of the ship would trigger the alarm. Not cheap to fit, circa £900 for parts, labour and a 1 year contract but ....

I'm looking into this too. One of the problems fitting tracker systems to the older cars is that the interiors and engine bays are fairly minimalist. This means it's hard for the installer to find somewhere out of sight, or that is not obvious, to install the box. I had a similar issue on my 356 Speedster. They guy said there was nowhere to put the box.

It's likely that we might get a similar message from the fitters with an early 911.

I'll be following up on this in the next month and will post anything of interest that I find.
