Your experience in race

Hi, I'am a proud owner of a 968 CS, the car ran the spanish porsche cup in mid 90's, and all the drivers told me than they use 9" wheel in front axles like at the rear ones. I tested the car like this last track day at the Jarama circuit, I found the car more nervous, bending the curves more quickly.

Do you drive your car like this or hear about that thing?

Sorry about my english, is not good.

Hi -- most racing 968's in the UK run in Porsche Club races -- we have to use any of the standard size wheels for example up to 7.5" x 17".

I have some 8.5 " x 18" rims and use them on the fronts at trackdays in my road car (10" rears). The suspension set up should not be too extreme otherwise the car may tend to wander about more than usual. Type of tyre can also be a factor. The good thing about the wider front tyres is that tyre wear on a race track can be controlled a bit more, providing the suspension is set up to achieve this.

Hi Paul, my car have 7,5" x 17 and 9" x 17, all drivers told me than alloy wheel in 18" are not good to race with the car, but they put 9" x 17 in front as the rear wheels, with spacers (23mm front per wheel and 35 rear per wheel). I use normaly michelin sport cup tires, last time I used the cup ones with my normal alloy wheels and after when we test the car with 9" x 17 we put Michelin slicks 24/61-17, Incredible the grip, new sensations, I need to learn again how to use the brakes and where I need to stop the car, but the feeling was incredible, the car took more quick the bends, with to much grip, the limit is far away. Next track day I test it abain, in one month more sensations...

Thanks
