Your chance to help me re window relays on the cabriolet

I have for some time experienced intermittent operation of the passenger window, so being a bit flush I went the whole hog and bought 3 new "window tipping switches" and the three relay that operate the windows and the slow action relay that drops both windows when the roof is raised. I've done the switches, (sod's law the passenger window has been operating normally since I bought the switches) and, interestingly, whilst looking for the relays cured an annoying rattle which turned out to be the colling fan resistor plate rattling because of a missing nut. Does anyone know where the relays are. PET shows them above the offside footwell but of course PET is generally LHD layout as default so would I find them behind the gove box? Anyon know?
 
I believe most of the relays are in the fuse box in the scuttle area - there is a comprehensive list inside the fusebox lid. The back of the fuse/relay board is above the passenger footwell, there may be some others around the interior though IIRC the dim dip headlight module (relay?) is above the drivers feet and the central locking unit is on the steering column.

There is a window relay in the fuse box which I conclude is in use only when the door is open, enabled by either of the courtesy light door switch so that you don't need to turn the igntion on to get power to the switches. It must be for that reason or there would have to be a relay for each window. When the roof is raised the cab has a separate pair of relays which must be operated by the slow action relay. I further conclude that these relays mimic the operation of the door switch and the slow action relay puls them in for two or three seconds to drop the window far enough to make sure the roof seal does not jam against the window glass. It is this pair of relays I want to locate, and I have had a good 'handbrake digging into my rib-cage' look in the drivers footwell and behind the glove box but I haven't found them so far. Dammit using my own logic I have just realised that the lazy drivers window is probaly because the mechanism is stiff and needs some TLC. I have some time Friday I will take out the glove box and have a rummage

IIRC these are in the rear quarters but I think you want to make sure they are the right ones before diving in there - does pet offer a clue?

in answer to myself Pet is no help at all! (and I remember reading so in your first post now) it could be anywhere from under the brake servo (it isn't) to the footwell!

Have a look in the pasenger footwell, at the (door, not transmission tunnel) side of the glovebox - in my 968 that's where the auxilliary fuse board lives, awkward SOB to get at.

There's a micro switch in the roof catch each side, then there's the three wondow relays; indeed, there are two more. For the motors, as you suggest. I think these are like the sunroof switches and probably very similar in circuitry, purely associted with the travel limits of the roof mechanism. The two limit switches are on the ciircular bell-cranks that actually articulate to roof. Like Chrishazle suggests I'm going to have a rummage behind the glove box, remembering to remove the relevant fuse so that the permanant feed to the glove box light does not short out.
