If we think prices in the UK are on the up for the 964. I've just been on a website Classic Trader. In Germany these cars are commanding prices I would have never guessed!!
For example a 1993 C2 Targa 102k kms £75K !!

I just updated the agreed value on my car, I wonder whether it is already out of date [8|]

I increased the value by 28.5% last year and another 22% this year.

Porsche will never make another car like it again.

Fewer on the roads every year.

Go manual, normally-aspirated, C2. [:)]

I contuinually keep an eye on the market and need to increase my agreed value, whilst remaing realistic.
Howvere, trying to be realistic is difficult when comparing against what is currenlty up for sale.
The c2 coupe however would appear to be the 964 of choice. 10 years ago I'm pleased I chose well [:D] dispite the 993 being the more sort after model and commanding higher values at the time.

I insured mine for £30k agreed value last year, renewal is up in Dec and I've had a new interior in it and I really don't have a clue what it's worth? What is the bast way to make sure it's valued correct?

To be honest, if people are expecting their high agreed values to be their market selling prices then you're better off writing the car off, or it being stolen. There's a lot of high asking prices out there and from what I'm hearing from those doing this for a living, those asking prices are not being acheived (unless of course there's something really exceptional). Some market normalisation needs to, and is, occuring. Even GT3's are coming down slightly. For the dealers there is a large strategic element of keeping perceived values high (but they know they are not 'actual'). Ray's excellent silver 964 at @£35+k seems more accurate. I have my agreed value down as £45k (only because I paid the extra £10 to have that). Wouldn't expect to get anything like that out there. Didn't think we bought them as investment assets, did we(?) ;-)

You have to consider how much it would cost to replace like for like, but the chances of getting exactly the same thing again is pretty much impossible, so you have to think how much a good condition C2 Couple would cost, if I could even find such a thing for sale.

Lockton, I believe, would give you 80% of your agreed value & let you keep the car in a total loss situation, which sounds like a reasonable deal. If it got stolen, well, you are back to my first paragraph.

Do you still have a front fog lamp, btw, Marcus? [8|]

Totally agree Colin. You'd probably never get to find the exact same 964 that you 'built'. And that's what's great about 911 ownership - everyone has done their own take on prefereneces, mods, upgrades etc (bigest aftermarket than any make of car I was told). So yes, getting the max out of any agreed value, finding a going rate average for a 964 then splashing the £10k or so on improvements to get something close to what you had before, is the way to go. Talking from experience too! Can't complain, despite totalling what was the original (non-sunroof) C4 UK press car for Porsche GB, I've actually now ended up with something better (for me).

My understanding is that most classic insurance small print lets you buy back the salvage for 20%. I did. Lucky though, as then (2012) I only got £15k for the car but found another for £9k that then received all the best bits from my write off, and more. Consider myself lucky as agreed value then was something that never occured to me.

Think I have the fog lamp somewhere Colin but tbh I recall it being cracked/damaged - no good for a nice looker. Although do have a whole linen interior (inc sports seats), few gauges, bonnet lid and lots of other bits that I've been too lazy to gumtree or ebay... will swap the lot for a set of Cup 1's [;)]

When I got in to 964s there were only ever about 50 to 60 for sale at any one time (PH classifieds). The prices ranged between £10K and £18K. There are now 130+ in the same classifieds (albeit that a few of those won't be real ads e.g. 'sold, more wanted'). This makes me think that many believe we're at the top of a bubble and are trying to get a good price while they can. The knock on effect of this is that a lot are hanging around because buyers are waiting for prices to drop. This makes the cars very difficult to price at the moment, whether that be to sell one or for insurance value.

That would be around 10years ago, hey Steve ;)
I can concure with those figures. However, if you narrow the search down say for c2 coupe, there are only about half a dozen of the 130+. A lot of owners with RSs, Turbos and recreations! appear to have come out the wood work in an attempt to cash in on the up turn in the market. Like most things its only worth what someone is prepared to pay.
Makes me smile when I read a description, "low miles, well cared for example", yet the interior and engine bay photos would appear to tell a different story; yet the seller asks top money!!

Yes mate...both you and me can be smug about getting into the 911 that nobody wanted at the time! [;)]

P.s. I'll be at Oulton in the CR on Tuesday along with a few other ex-964 owners.

You're right Steve.
If I can get the day off I'll pop along for a catch up ;)
Need to book myself another trackday, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!

Me too! I bought at near enough the bottom of the market, which meant I also had to give away my 944S2 for buttons. At the time I always considered it as 'the thinking man's Porsche', much like the 944S2. [;)]
